I have the evic. I never wanted to venture into advance mods, but when I saw the videos of it, I just had to have it. It's fun and more features than anything out there in that price range ($104-140). The kit, which is sold as a complete kit, comes with the carger (usb cable and wall adapter), 2600mah battery, and useless manuals. The unit has an upgradable firmware for future fixes or innovations. The limitations of not passing 5v or 11w is of no concern to me because I usually vape with LR or SR with a target watts of 8.5w. It's a VV and VW PV. To each his own, but I'm satisfied with mine.

I got the V.V. Gripper about a month ago. I was looking for a smaller, lighter, more stealthy variable voltage device to use out-and-about instead of my full size Provari. I considered getting a Mini Provari, but I couldn't justify another $200 + batteries at this time, and already had two mechanical mods for backups.

I decided upon the V.V. Gripper. It does nearly everything that the Provari does in a smaller package as I was looking for. Yes, it is constructed of a rubberized finish, impact-resistant plastic case; but I have accidentally dropped it several times and it has survived each fall without a scratch. It uses the same 18650 battery as my extended cap Provari uses and lasts me over one day of exclusive use. It's the same size as a small pack of cigarettes, so it will easily fit into a shirt or coat pocket. Battery voltage and ohms reader, nice LED display. Well worth the $50. Very happy with my choice.

I don't see what a gripper does for you if you already have a VV mod. I would either get a VAMO or Sigelei ZMAX (tube only with 18650 cap is about 90 bucks) as they do VW. An evic is fine if you know, like me, you won't desire more power than it puts out.

If you spent 140 on a lavatube v2 kit and then another 50ish on a gripper (510)... you have basically spent provari money for VV devices and not on a provari.

I would check out the VW tubes out there.

If you are deciding between the two in the title I would def get the evic. It has nice construction but still light weight. More features than you'll need, excellent battery life and I absolutely love it.

My main complaint with the gripper, besides the incredibly cheap feel of it, is the button placement. The top mounted button is not very comfortable imo.

If you like the feel of a box mod I would recommend the itaste MVP over the gripper.

SMOKTEK is a knock off company man. The VAMO is a china built mod that many people are saying is as good or better than a provari. If you really dont want a knock off then get a provari. I had the gripper for a month and the solder connection to the bottom cap came loose, I have resoldered it a few times. Your money will go much farther in the knock off market towards a VAMO or Siegili Zmax or CVI anyvapes all VV/VW mods all getting great reviews.
