As a fairly new e-cigger, I've purhcased an Aspire CF Maxx and an Aspire Atlantis Mega.

I'm struggling to understand what the air holes, and wattage do, and how they do it.

My Atlantis Mega has 2 sets of holes - one at the bottom, and one near the top.

The CF Maxx goes up to 50W. I'm using 1.0 ohm coils I believe.

I just can't seem to find the sweet spot. Some settings I get a burning in my throat, others I can't handle as it forces me to cough. I know this setup is for "advanced" users, but I'm finding it hard to get the adjustments right to how I like it - which would be a nice amount of flavor without burning sensations.

Also, for the record, I'm smoking 18MG nicotine which I think might be the problem. It was fine in my Nautilis Mini, but this thing produces WAY more vapor..

You need to lung hit this tank really with full air open, lower your pg and nic, if your doing mouth to lung with 18mg and high pg it will burn your throat for sure.. Different coils have different wattage

20-30W (0.5ohm coil) 40-50W (1ohm) 70-80W (0.3ohm), the air flow is just personal preference, some like a tighter draw, some like an airy one.

What effects do air holes + wattage have on the flavour?

The more heat a coil produces, either from high watts or low ohms, the more airflow it requires, so that it doesn't burn; usually with high airflow, lung hitting works better, because if you try mouth-to-lung with wide open airflow, the effect is much like "trying to smoke a straw."

Most atomizers that are hot and have high airflow are "cloud chasing" attys; because there is so much air, there is usually less flavor; maximum flavor requires less air, so the vapor is more "saturated"; the heat is generally lower because decreasing the airflow means more chance of burning, if you don't turn the power down. Every flavor, every ejuice, has its own "sweet spot," the wattage or the resistance of the coil, at which it tastes best, and that sort of thing is also highly subjective, to each individual's taste.

That's the basics of it. If you build and/or wick your own coils, you have to take all this into consideration, to determine the exactly correct amount of whatever type of wicking you use. It's all a balance, between each individual aspect.

Does 12MG sound too high for this setup?

I was smoking 20-25 ciggies a day and I've only quit for 1-2 days. I can find the juices I like in 6MG and 12MG - but I get the feeling 6MG might not cure my cravings.
Oh it will if your using the 0.5ohm or 0.3ohm lung hitting..Infact the 0.3ohm coil, you may need 3mg of nic, you get way way more nic with these type of tanks..
