What exact wire and wick should I buy to rebuild clearomizers?

Pardon me for not reading the like 100 page wick and wire threads. I use Kanger evods (basically BCC T3s for those who aren't familiar). I guess what I buy should also work for any eGo type clearos I might get later.

Wick:

I read cotton's safer than silica, so I want that unless there's something even better and safer like hemp cotton? There's a lot of options when searching eBay, and I don't know what to buy. Can you link me a small roll of what's best?

Wire:

I use a VV eGo that ranges 3.3V to 4.8V. I think I prefer 2.5ohm at 4.5V, but I don't know If I should buy kanther wire or what. Can you link a small roll of what's best and maybe another if I want to vape around 1.8ohm? I'm saving the SS/ceramic/etc wick for when I eventually get a glass tank mod, so whatever's best besides those for now.

Should I pretreat wick or wire by soaking and putting a flame to them to burn off manufacturing grease or chemicals?

I can rebuild easy but don't know what to buy. Thanks

If you're looking for a one-stop-shop, try Wick and Wire

Kanthal 32g is probably the most popular that I've noticed. Silica is okay -- I can't get it to work. I use cotton (cotton yarn, cotton balls, cotton rounds). Cotton DOES require you to soak it for a couple hours before you vape though. So if you can get silica working and you like it, go for it!

I recently lost my hard drive (and my dang bookmarks), so I don't have links to the bulk/deals on wick and wire. Hopefully someone will chime in.

EDIT: and to answer your question, just take a lighter to the wire to burn off any oils from the manufacturing process. I don't think a torch would be a good idea on thin wire.

Thanks for the help.
yes, T3s are rebuildable, but not as easily as evod/vivi nova/etc style which omits having to work in a small area enclosed by the ego threads through the bottom of the head(base).

I didn't think cotton would be more difficult to work with than silica. I'm still leaning towards that and hope for just a link of a small spool in the right gauge I can get cheap.

Should I get 34 gauge and make 4 wraps to get about 2.5ohm? What about the other parts of wire description like 'D' or 'A1'?

100% Cotton embroidery thread (DMC brand) and thinner cotton yarns can be bought in Michael's and other type stores like JoAnns. Michael's has hemp string in the beading department. I recommend you boil whichever you buy. ALso I'm looking for the thread, but a burn test of the wick material before you use it to make sure it's 100% natural. If I remember correctly it should be soft ash after it burns, no crusty stuff or nasty fumes. I'll come back if I find it.

EDIT: Here it is http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...nt-cottons-different-wicks-4.html#post8218062

Xmacx has many helpful post in that thread. Here is also a cotton wick wiki http://www.tomcatt2.com/wiki/TomCatt

Bamboo and hemp are more sturdy and possibly even wick better, but they have a taste to them. I am just revisiting my hemp and the woodsy flavor disappears after a half hour of vaping.

$4 buys years of wick in an cotton embroidery thread. I don't see why natural threads would be more difficult than silica. In fact I'd say the opposite since you don't have to worry about getting the broken silica fibers all over the place.

This sticky http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo.../320042-resistance-wire-kanthal-nichrome.html has a good chart in post #1 and #52 that may help with the wire selection.

thanks all. I posted in other threads to find my conclusion of hemp vs cotton vs bamboo and which products have zero addatives. But SS seems to be the best choice, so I'm pretty much set on that but might need to clog around the SS with cotton or something to avoid flooding because it's for a bottom coil clearomizer for now.
