It's a different kind of hardware but I'm getting a fender slide interface for Xmas. Have you ever tried one gutter?
no sir - they are relatively new. i have messed with amplitube quite a bit (it's pretty impressive) and played with a few of the first gen interfaces for it.looks like they've added some lesson tools and various other stuff in with it - should be a cool little doodad!! and if it makes you want to play more, that's a great thing.i'm interested to hear your take on it after you spend some time with it fo sho.
actually, i was just talking to a buddy of mine the other day about advances in recording quality over the last few years. he and i both started out with 4 track cassette units back in the 80's and between then and now, the advances in sound quality of what you can get with very, very little money is just mind boggling.
he does singer songwriter acoustic stuff and uses his setup for memory/song structure kinda things and his recordings with just a 49 dollar blue snowball straight into his laptop are ridiculously good (granted, he has some experience and understands mic positioning and gain staging, but, still, you couldn't get a reel of 1/4 inch tape for 49 bucks back in the day..)
the funny thing is,even built in soundcards in off the shelf pc's are as capable if not better than top of the line stuff from even 30 years ago -it's a great time to be recording stuff on the cheap. If you've got the songs and time, there's no reason people can't churn out stuff nowadays that blows away what we started with.
