What have I done (broke two ego's within 30 seconds

So I have some cartomisers from totally wicked. Put a newish one into my ego battery, and after about 3 seconds of pressing down, there was this burning smell, like I burnt out the battery (not burnt out from the cartomiser)

Stupidly I then put the same cartomiser on my other ego - and g*d dam, busted it. Now, when you press the power button on the battery, it does not light up. What have I done ? is there a fix / something I should do ?

I would contact Totally Wicked and the vendor where you bought your eGo batteries. I'm not sure if there's a fix or not. Usually if the switch or the battery goes bad then they're trash.

Got a digital voltmeter ? Put it on ohm scale & touch the contacts on the batt side of the carto . It should read 2 ohms or above unless its a lr unit . If it is less than 1 ohm the coil may be shorted & that is a excellent way to destroy a battery . You are lucky it did not explode .

try plugging the batts into the charger to see if that will reset the circuit, if that doesn't work i would get in touch with whoever sold you the cartos', if that doesn't help i would tell whoever you got the egos from that they are defective unless you have had them longer than 60 days....30 is even better...most vendors will replace a defective batt within 30 days no prob and some will do it b4 60 but not all...........

I had this happen a week ago, screw the atty on and POOF! battery smoke (not vapor) seeping out of the button hole on my Ego. What happened is that the atomizer(or cartomizer in your case) has caused the battery to short circuit and probably killed the batt for good. I was ...... but what could I do.

The silicone washer that seperates the positive and negative contacts on the threads of the carto or atty may have had a split in it or it was compressed too much when it was screwed on the batt. This causes the positive and negative contacts to touch causing a short. My guess is that the batt is dead, and would advise you to toss that carto that caused the short circuit. I know it sucks, but once the batt is shorted out its done.

Sorry about your loss, you may want to let the vendor know what happened. Its worth a try.

Im out an ego batt too but it was a year old anyway.

Yep, sounds like the carto was shorted and popped the MOSFET in the battery. I'd be talking to the carto supplier, although they will probably just replace the carto. Maybe you can get some relief from the Ego battery supplier on the failure. Unless all parts came from the same supplier, you may be out of luck on the battery since the carto killed two of them.

Liberty Flights sells a Lite Bundle Riva kit with 2 750mah batts, 2 attys, and a cone, complete with charger for $29.99 after the 20% discount. That might be the best bet if you have to start over.

I'd also check out the resistance on all those cartos. You don't want to poof the new batts.

Hmm. If I put it on charge my charger knows it is not full of charge and goes red. If I screw a good cartomiser onto it, it flashes 3 times. \when you press the button on the battery it just flashes 3 times, no power on it.

I think I busted them. I'm such an idiot for trying it with the second one too.

I did the same thing a while back with a carto and burned up two batts. My favorite set too. The carto shorted them out it really made me mad. I just thought the batt went bad no carto shorted it out so IIIIII just had to try it another batt.. My Bad.

Live and learn. I had a faulty atomizer kill a battery and did the same thing as you - put it on another battery. Killed both of them, of course. It sounds like that's what happened to you also.
