Ok, so it's not really a PIF but it kind of is...

I'm a juice junky. I love different flavored juices and I'm not on a quest to find that perfect ADV, although I have encountered a few.

I have over 100 flavors at hand at any given time (I told you I'm a junkie). Some I like, some not so much.

I constantly have filled cartos laying around, I'll probably never refill them again. I use them for a day or two, then change up my flavors completely. After a few days of laying around, I get sick of looking at them.

I also buy at least 5 brand new, XL, stainless steel cartos a week whether I use them or not. I'm a bit of a hoarder. I like being able to go into my supply drawer and pick out what I want to use as if I was in a store, as opposed to rationing my supplies until I get more in. I buy only the stainless because when I'm done with them, I clean them using the boiling method. I don't know what's in the glue that holds the black or gold colored paper on around the cartos and I'm worried that if I boil them up, the glue remnants will get into the fill an affect the flavor.

With all that said, after they are sparkly clean and dried properly (I set them in front of a little electric heater that dries them quickly), I give them to my neighbor. She quit smoking and started vaping because I set her up when she was broke and couldn't afford a pack of cigarettes. She knew that we had quit smoking in this house but she thought that we might have some old stale smokes lying around - which we didn't. I watched my husband crush his last open pack of cigarettes! I told her that I wouldn't give her money to buy more but I WOULD gift her with a hand me down ego, some of my juices and a bunch of cleaned out cartos. Since that day, she's hasn't bought or smoked one single cigarette! Three months for her.

I can't afford to keep her in her vaping habit, and she can afford her own supplies now that she has a setup, but she is really grateful for those cleaned out cartos. She spends way less money on juices than she did on cigarettes and feels way better! In all honesty, I probably would have just chucked those cartos after using them anyway. Not that I wouldn't use them again, but I've always got fresh ones and cleaning them out for myself was way too tedious. I would clean them and found that I never really used them anyway.

Now sure, she can clean them out herself, but I just think it's nicer for me to do it for her :)

So, while it isn't much of a PIF, it's really helpful to someone who struggles with money already. Cigarettes can be found dirt cheap at the reservations (20 bucks a carton) but now she's only spending 10 bucks a week on juice and she's off of the cigarettes!

Win/win.

Soak them in Hydrogen Peroxide for 24 hours and the carto will be fresh for you to reuse with a different flavor! Some strong flavors (Bananna or Citrus) might need soaking in Vinegar, rise with water, then soak in H202 for 24 hours. Let dry for a day or two and reuse! I do it all the time.

I agree, use a tank system. It's easier to clean and doesn't hold any residual flavors. I have Kanger T-3 bottom feed clearomizers. When done, I take the coil off (unscrews so you can refill the clearo or replace a coil) I soak my coils in H2O2 for a day when done vaping. My wicks come out brand new white!

I just boil mine a few times until the water is clear and there is no juicy scents coming from it. Then I shake out the cartos, pack some paper toweling in so the excess water wicks out, line them up in front of a little space heater set to high (in the summer, they'll sit in the sun) and within a few hours they're perfect for use.

Thanks for the nice words, fellow vapers! I try to give anything I'm not using to someone who will use it anyway, so a clean, dry, usuable carto fits in that description! I also do the same with old tanks that are maybe a little scratched up and I'll sometimes toss in a few extra heads and some bottles of juice in the "care package." It's definitely not a charity case thing. It's a way to get rid of stuff that I don't need and give it to someone who will. It's also a good way to introduce a smoker to vaping without putting yourself broke in the process!
