Exploding Riva/carto!

My friend has a riva batt. she had a boge 2.0 carto on it, it had been sitting for a couple hours, when she picked it up to vape and hit the button, the carto burst into smoke...she had to put it under running water (the carto I guess) to put it out. It wasn't a new carto, she had been using it for a while. It was a fresh charged battery. The carto is ruined of course but she says the riva batt looks fine. She tried it again with another carto and said she got a burnt taste but she doesn't know if it was her imagination or not. Now she's afraid to use the Riva.

Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Do you think it's the battery or the carto at fault? I take my riva to work and stealth vape (a puff here and there) in the bathroom stall. NOT ANYMORE! I can't imagine the embarrassment I'd feel if this happened to me while sneaking a vape in the stall!

I Haven't heard of anything like that happening. By chance, did she clean it with alcohol or mix everclear with her juice?

When you push the button its supposed to burst into "smoke" }> but in all seriousness I use a Riva with Boge 2.0 cartos and this hasnt happened to me.

Haven't had this happen with a carto, but did have it happen with a 510 atomizer. It literally exploded into my mouth. I about jumped out of chair. Though, I know why it happened, it was an LR atty I way overpowered with my VV mod.

I've been using 3Ω Boge cartos almost a year now and sometimes run them as high as 6V. I've never had one explode on me. I'm sure it was a rare fluke occurrence for your friend. She'll probably never see that happen again. I would just tell her that.

I had a brand new one do that to me, well... sorta.

Filled new carto with juice, both "condom" fill and a few drops into the filler from the cap end.
Set it aside for 30 minutes.
The first time I hit the button it sizzled and I mean loud.
Smoke came from the tip of the mouth piece and from all 4 air slots on top of the battery connector.

Now I'm a noob, and I was very noob when this happened, so I raised an eyebrow and said "damn that's a lot a vapor".
So of course I hit the button and took a hit.
I was the most horrid burnt taste....
Looking down into the little hole in the white cap (it was a Boge LR btw) I could SEE bright orange, pretty weird to look at actually. It didn't (and I don't think it could) actually catch fire. The water was probably an over-reaction.

Moral to the story: Sometimes you get a bad carto, and sometimes a carto GOES bad. It happens.

But I think my issue is battery related and yours is carto related. Your friend's happened when they were pressing the manual button, mine happened while it was just siting on my lap...

Oh yea, I have run accross a few defective Boge cartos. I don't think they're defective rate is any higher than anyone else, but I've had ones that burned filler right out of the gate. You know right away and it's like, "well, got a bad one." Chuck it and move on to the next one.

It sounds like maybe your button sticks 'on'?

I know that she does regularly clean her batts with alcohol but it should have dried by then. Can you imagine trying to stealth vape in a bathroom stall and your carto blows up!! with people in there!! no more vaping at work for me!

Something I've noticed (I've had a few bad ones...) is that the ones the get imprinted buy the reseller seem better.

Seems to me that the "better" ones get past on for extra printing is all I'm saying....
I've had zero fails from re-seller labeled Boges, leading me to think that their quality control is "different" when they are imprinting them. Just food for thought.

I have had that happen, but it has always been from a faulty switch that remains activated and heats up the carto beyond handling. I have had them melt on the inside and SMOKE horribly, but never actually catch on fire.

yea but she said there was a lot of smoke... Only a couple people at work know that I vape, I can't imagine what I'd do it this happened and smoke started coming out of the stall! Even if I threw it in the toilet and flushed there would still be smoke and the burning smell.
