A kick is a drop in module for a "mechanical" mod that doesn't have any way to control the power from the battery to the coil (mechanical being just that, a battery, a push button and a 510 connector for your tank or carto or whatever, whatever volts the battery is at...is the volts delivered to the head), it usually converts a 18650 system into a 18500 w/ kick into a variable wattage rig

As you can see the little potentiometer, you adjust it to the wattage you want, drop in the kick, put a battery behind it, close it up...and vape VW (you have to use shorter batteries because the kick is pretty thick.

Think of it as a set it and forget it APV module

To the OP, do note that the post above is of a Kick knockoff. The original was made by Evolv Vapor in the USA. The newest model is the Kick 2. Both the Kick and Kick 2 are great accessories for when you need regulated, consistent output.

From a mechanical mod, variable voltage/wattage mods already do this and you should never use one in those. Variable mods are ones like the eVic, Vamo, MPV, Provari, etc.

Thanks guys for the information! I have been a part of many forums but never one like this, im quickly figuring out that ECF has the best community out there! :vapor:

So to summarize, the kick would make the battery in my Magneto give a consistent (but weaker?) output until the battery dies, rather then being strong when fully charged and weaker and weaker until it dies? This seems like it would be a good thing, it wouldn't be fully mechanical any longer but are there any other reasons not to add a Kick to the piece in my profile pic?

Negative!

The kick or kick2 is EXACTLY like a APV (its just instead of building the APV circuitry into a head with a battery tube, they built it into a removable addon module), it has buck boost circuitry that kicks up the voltage, then regulates it back down, it draws harder on the battery (slightly) but what it does is REGULATE the power to the coil...give you a constant wattage no matter how low the battery goes till it gets to the drain cutoff point. (which is another bonus...mechanical mods DO NOT HAVE any way for the user to know the voltage of the battery, if you drain a Li Ion too low...it kills it...it will not recharge safely, the kick and kick2 will no longer hit if the voltage gets to that point)

Not weaker...consistent and STRONGER output

Ok you convinced me, I want one! Are the ones on FT ok? I noticed they have it with 1, 2, or 5 modes and they say they are for flashlights...

The kick is just a advancement on the circuitry originally designed for the CREE type high power output LED lights...

What is FT? fasttech? No...those are acutal flashlight driver...order one from a reputable distribution company

Remember if your mechanical mod uses 18650 batteries you need to get shorter batteries, the 18500's usually are the norm

So I could add this to my Vamo2 and get a steady voltage all the time? I am sure you answered my question in there somewhere I am new at all the gadgets.

No, The kick is only for mechanical mods, the VAMO having vv/vw in essence, has the kick built into the head.
