What is going on?

I have no clue why but my last 3 or so coils have been just burning through my cotton every day. I haven't increased my vapeing at all, and though my current set up is a .3 vs a .4 that I normally do, it turns out like this after just a few hours.
as you can see, it's still got juice but always taste burnt and this was just a few hours on fresh cotton

What kind of mod? If it's regulated, could it have gotten somehow switched into Mean instead of RMS mode?

It's an ipv 3 with a mutation x atty

what are you running it at? cuz even though it doesnt look like it dropped much resistance, thats an increase of almost 3 amps at 3.7v if you were vaping at 3.7v at 0.4ohm, about 11watts increase.

Right now I am vaping at 50w and it regualtes to 4.6v

Maybe too much cotton in the well.

When you run that hot, the juice has to get to the coil faster, allot of cotton in the well can hold it back, and impede the juice flow to the coil. Its like putting a sponge in the well, the juice stays in the sponge instead of wicking up to the coil at the speed it needs to feed the coil efficiently. I would re wick it and use just enough cotton to touch the bottom of the well and fan out just a little.

+1 for VHRB's wicking style. That also looks like a bit less cotton inside of the coil than I would go for.

yeah, when I wick i just cut one end entirely off on one side of the coil then tuck the other side under half the well. i use the actual resevoir as a 'mini' tank but thats just me, havent had any probs yet, but i usually run 0.4-0.6 at no more than 30watts, duno about 50.

Well I tried using less cotton in the well and that seems to be working a bit. Very possible that it was the cotton i was using itself. For some reason it was very thin and ripping when i tried to thread it through the coils for one reason or another. I'll try other suggestions as well
