i have a polished steel provari 2.5 with 18650 cap, tatroe wide cap, green led, loki beauty ring etc that cost me an absolute fortune...

yet since i bought my $25 nemesis clone i haven't touched it except to check ohms.
i can't put my finger exactly on what i love about it - the provari is easier to fire and regulated and is shiny and glowy and stable as anything, but i know that mechs are my thing. i'm trying to figure out exactly why, so i ask you...

what is it that you guys love so much about mechs?

Good for you on finding vape gear you like and that works for you. It seems to me that cost is a very small part of this equation.

I vape mechanical mods and rebuildable attys almost all the time. I appreciate that I'm not power limited, that these mods can be practically indestructible and easy to maintain and repair myself. This may change when the new high power regulated mods get better but I have not seen anything out there yet at any price point that makes me want to switch.

Vape what works for you :)

Durability, reliability, looks, possibility to tailor the vaping experience precisely to one's own preferences (with rda/rbas). Those things, but I'm starting to suspect that it's the tinkering aspect that's the biggest draw for me. Let's me feel that I'm a handy bloke, though I'm really not :)

On my hybrid iv abused the literal hell out of it and and it still works like a champ. Only tweaking I had to do was add small amount of vasiline to the contacts otherwise it was getting alot of biildup and wasn't hitting good. Did that and it went into overdrive. Massive clouds off a .8ohm build might venture lower once I pick up a better battery but for now I'm content. Meanwhile my regulated mods is mostly a tank only setup now

You guys aren't helping at all.

After using various mods that friends own, I finally bogged down and got a Provari and RBA to replace my hookah habit. The Provari is amazing, I made a pretty nice microcoil on my first attempt, and yet I'm already looking at mech mods. I'm a tinkerer at heart, and I desperately need something from Atmizoo, as well as a copper and brass mech (because patina).

This was supposed to help me save money.

I only use mechs too, and if someone gave me a Provari I'd sell it and buy more mechs. I could state the usual reasons I like mechs, but there's just something about them that's difficult to articulate. I'm not quite sure how to explain that, but I skipped right over regulated mods and went from eGo stuff right to mechs and RBA. I guess there was something about regulated mods that just didn't appeal to me, and a lot about mechs that did.

A Rolex is probably the most outdated watch technology on the planet, but my old WWII POW Rolly is the finest time piece I have ever owned. Mine gains time, calculated to be 0.03 seconds/year. There isn't an electronic wrist watch on the planet that can match that.

Now do you understand why I like mechanicals?

Seems like similar reasons as to why I enjoy carbureted motorcycles instead of EFI.

I think the posters here have not made enough of the fact that they look good. I like simple. Some of the button designs are inspired. Simple and they work.

The only minus for me is that I worry about the battery. Not that I have too large a draw. I know about the relationship between current, resistance, and voltage and stay well below the capabilities of the battery. I worry about running the battery too far down. I have a collection of about half a dozen and will sit and use them all. Since I constantly switch I am afraid I will not notice when vapor production goes down and I will hurt the battery by running it too far down. While I am vaping with a mech I constantly worry and that takes something away. I love the reassurance of the green light when I push the button.

I only vape on Mechs now. I just love the ability to tinker, and they produce the goods for me. I don't use a kick, so the vape tails off, but that's good (for me) as I know when the battery is getting low rather than waiting for an APV to tell me.

I like control, I build my coils, mix my liquids, so a Mech just works for me. It's simple, but effective (and for me, reliable)

Whatever works for you works, in my opinion. I have no issues with APV's, Ego's, Ciglikes, it's what works for the user.

Mech's are simple, I like simple :)

I am a tech junkie at heart, and yet there is something very alluring about the simplicity of a mech mod. I can't quit place my finger on it, but given the choice between a nice looking mech or a Hana, I will take the mech. I should also point out that I have a MVP so my needs for a VV/VW are taken care of, should the MVP die however I might replace it with a Hana Clone.

I actually use a mix of mechs and VV/VW and one that's between the two. My ADV is single coil 1.6 ohm at 10-12 watts. I can replicate that time and time again. So, for my every day vape, it's a VV/VW. I use a vamo V5 as my main and a Vamo V3 as my backup... now, in between the mod and mech, I use a kicked Nemesis. It has an aspect of mods, and an aspect of mechs. I can still get my ADV experience, but the rest is purely mechanical. locking ring, etc.

But then comes the Mechanicals. I have two setups that probably will never change. I have a Caravella with a Fogger V4, and an Aqua with the origin mod. Those are my smallest PV's, and I find that at home, I use my VV/VW, but going out, I use my mechs. Recently I took a four day vacation, and took four of my vapes. By the time I came home, the only two that were fully functional were my 2 mechs. The kicked nemesis had issues connecting battery to the kick, and juice ran through the 510 connector into the vamo...which rendered it useless. Part of the Vamo issue was due to a failed sealed 510 connector, and the other due to an atomizer that got it's air through the 510... left it in a car, and juice leaked through the 510. If such thing happened to a mech, I could simply rinse it off and dry it, and be on my merry way. No such luck with a VV/VW. The pure durability of a mech mod is nice, especially when on a long trip. I'll never go on a trip again without one.

I love my mechanicals because I rarely have one stop working and when one does I can always have it back up and vaping within minutes. With regulated mods I've always had to carry a backup just in case but with my mechanicals all I carry is an extra battery. IMHO even a cheap mechanical is more reliable than the most expensive regulated mod.
