Everyone has different ideas and different rituals they go through.

I usually vape my e-liquid right away. If it tastes a little blah or a little perfumy, I put it in the drawer (cool, dark place) for a couple weeks. If it improves, vape away!

I don't vape tobacco flavors so I've found about two weeks and they're probably as good as they're going to get.

Edit: I steep with caps on. When I make my own and use alcohol based flavorings, I'll leave the cap off for a bit for the alcohol to dissipate.

I rarely pay attention to steeping... sometimes I prefer liquids unsteeped because the flavor is less intense...

There are a few liquids out there that change dramatically with steeping... one of the ones that comes to mind first is Backwoods Brew's Casablanca... it goes from spicy... almost bitter to sweet and smooth within three weeks...

and there are handful of other liquids... you'll gain awareness as you vape longer.

A lot of our vendors are smaller operations and it doesn't make sense for them to have tons of liquid sitting on a shelf ready to ship - the overhead is expensive... people want different ratios... juice can get old etc... so... most make your juice when you order and most juices need a few days to a few weeks to come together...

There are always exceptions... and anomalies... its never straight forward and easy to figure out -
