I steep with the caps off but I usually put them in a cabinet or drawer in the kitchen to avoid the dust & other particles that may be floating around in the air. I also put the cap on at least once a day and shake all of the bottles & then remove them again & stick them back in the steep drawer. I don't know if just leaving them would help I'm sure they would still steep but I was always told to shake. I'm sure others will chime in soon!

either way is fine.. I wouldnt worry about open bottles from dust or insects. Open bottles that are in a secured area where pets or children cant get to them is fine. Or capped, whichever works for you. They will steep if left alone on their own. I like to shake them up once a day for a few days and then if needed, just leave capped and put them away until you are ready to use them.

If you smell the juice and it has a perfumey or alcohol smell.. people sometimes shake the bottle and leave the cap and dripper off for a day.. if it still smells.. another day.. i steep in a cabinet so i don't worry much about particulates too much..
I'm a clean person.. but when that juice first entered the bottle at the vendors.. it got dust in it at that moment.. not a whole lot you can do about that.. but yes.. you can steep with caps on.. it will take longer for the perfumey smell to go away..if there is one

I have mine in a box with a lid on it and I put the box in a drawer. I don't shake because I didn't know I was supposed to. I've never found any insects in mine - yet. Dust probably gets in but it's not like I get a film on the top, or I don't notice. Most of the bottles have small openings so I don't worry about it.

Thank you for asking that question New2vapes. I too have wondered the same thing. My husband custom made a wooden box with a lid and on the side he bored, boared, borred, ok he put holes, 12 to be exact, to hold my kgo batteries and my clearomizers. I put all my juices in the box but I open it daily to fill up to vape for the day so they don't stay in the dark constantly and I only took off the caps and dropper part one day for about 5 sec and then shook them and still shake them once a day but don't take caps/droppers off everytime. I hope they are still steeping. New2vapes, if you continue to leave the caps on while steeping, let me know if you remember and get a chance how it works out for you and I will do the same for you. I am new also. Only been vaping almost a month now.:toast::thumb:

Well here is exactly what I am going to be doing.

1 - open the 2 bottles, leave them open in a cabinet for 24 hours.
2- Then I will put the lid back on, shake them for 30 seconds, then store them back in the cabinet.
3 - The next day I will remove the lid off of both bottles, so air gets in, put both lids back on, then I will store them for a week without opening them.

The problem is I have nothing to compare to if I don't do the steps above or just leave the bottles alone from the start. I never tried MT BAKER before and never tried these 2 flavors.

Which flavors did you get? I tend to steep mt baker for at least a week but sometimes it takes less. I would check out the mt baker thread on here as well! They have a huge following & I'm sure someone on there would be able to tell you how long they steep those 2 particular juices. It might give you a range of how long you want to steep yours. As skyz said in a previous post...a dead give away for me that they need to steep longer is a perfume smell.

Just a thought to throw out here, if your concerned with whatever dust might get into that very small opening, lay some cheesecloth or a tissue over the top. The liquids would still be able to breathe but still be protected. I personally don't cover anything but if you feel more secure, do the above.

Another thing, it's not necessary to put them in the dark, just keep them out of sunlight. Since I have no children or pets, unless you count my Hubby, mine steep on my kitchen counter next to my Vape Station. All lined up along the back wall. I have a long counter and they are quite some distance from the stove.

I just bought 2 bottles from MT Baker and was advise to steep them. I watched a video online of a lady that steeped juice with the bottles open. Does anyone worry about dust, particles, insects, etc. getting into the juice? Would it steep if I just left the bottle alone for 2 weeks?

You have the Perfect Opportunity to do a Controlled Test.

Take the Cap off One Bottle and place it in a Cool, Dark Place. Now place the Other Bottle in the Exact Same Place.

Come back a Week Later and see which on Tasted the Best. Or if they Both Taste the Same.
