I bought 500ml of kosher usp pg and it smells like finger nail polish remover in the bottle. This came from a ECF supporting vendor with good reviews. First time to buy pg for my diy

I would be Wary if I bought some PG and it Smelled like Nail Polish Remover.

Is it a Strong Smell or Just a Whiff?

The smell is strong but when i poured some on a plate i could not smell it. I bought pg and vg at the same time. The vg is oderless.

I would Toss that PG. A Strong Nail Polish Remover Smell Doesn't Sound Right.

If you bought a Bottle of Cooking Oil or Milk and it Smelled like Nail Polish Remover, you would Toss It.... Right?

Was there any kind of tape around the top of the bottle? I can't remember what vendor but they'd put electrical tape around the cap. Smelled nasty but it was just the top of the bottle.

Pharmaceutical grade PG and / or VG should smell of NOTHING. If it smell's in the bottle but when you pour it out nothing then i would assume that it is the bottle material that smells. Either way, a reputable vendor should know what their containers are made of. If it smells strongly then it is either not PG or in fact could be ethylene glycol - what is used in anti-freeze and has a sweet smell not unlike acetone. If i were you i would contact the vendor and chuck it in the bin.

On Second Thought.

I would Keep the Bottle of PG you have until you get a New Bottle.

That way you can compare the Smell of the Old PG to the Smell of the New PG.
