I see this term everywhere. Everyone has premium juice. Is it premium ingredients? Mixed in premium equipment with premium man-hands? Does it give my tongue a premium flavor massage?

But seriously... with only 4 ingredients (sometimes 3), how much of a range in quality could there *actually* be in known compounds? Sounds a little bit like hype marketing to me.

Oh hi, I'm new here.

Welcome to the community!

Yeah, a lot of "premium" is marketing hype, but there are some out there that truly deserve the label. Typically I would consider premium to be a more complex blend of flavors. Something more than just throwing some blueberry in with some vg and nic base. Maybe add some cream, some vanilla, a touch of sweetener, maybe even a little pie crust or graham cracker and make it more like a blueberry cobbler.... actually that sounds pretty good, I'm gonna have to dig into my DIY supplies now! :D

hi @expressvapor and welcome to the forum. Using "premium" in the description probably sells more juice than "cheap".

Oh hay I can get behind that! Ok maybe not, but lots of people in my area would, I think. Maybe "discount"?

Ah good point, exactly why I asked the question. Makes sense.

Hi Express, welcome to the forum. Seems you pretty much figured it out :) Another term that's overused, "Gourmet". It's just marketing. Here's a link to the General E-liquid subforum,
https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/forums/general-e-liquid-discussion.406/ two more posts and you can reply in that area as well as the rest of this great place we have here. Have fun!

Thank you for that link. I've been lurking for a short while and think this is a GREAT place. Glad to be involved.

Come on guys. Premium means it was mixed by Elves in the magic garden, using only the finest ingredients at the precise time that Venus is in an exact alignment with Mars and Jupiter. And of course only when the dew of the Spring equinox has just touched the grass. Then it makes it worth $1 per ml.

I'm sure I read this somewhere.

yah - from what i have seen and tried, premium is just a tag that increases the price, lol... has no real bearing, in general, on quality of ingredients or final product, other than price point and dressed up packaging

And half of em don't even dress up the packaging lol!

Organic, premium, gourmet... It's all lingo.

In the end, we're all essentially using the same VG/PG/nicotine base, and many of the biggest e-juice companies are just buying from the large flavoring companies to make their juices, meaning that their "premium" e-liquid is readily mixable in your own home, assuming you can figure out the flavorings used.

And this is exactly why I started to DIY my own juice....

What is "premium" e-juice?
...a ripoff?

As already stated a juice labeled as such will sell better than one labeled "mixed by my brother in a bathtub" for instance. At the end of the day it is just the same ingredients as any other juice but with a real or perceived 'secret magic' flavour combination. Once you DIY your own juice you will look back and laugh maniacally like an over the top Bond villain. It's easy and about 1000x cheaper, and gives you full control over the PG?VG ratio, nic strength, flavour intensity etc.

Yeah, I started DIY-ing primarily because I switched to unflavored, and figured I might as well scoop some flavorings to occasionally spice up my unflavored/nic. Not to mention it keeps the cost of juice ridiculously low.

22$ for a 30mL is standard for some of these premium juice companies. It's easy to make the same quantity (and similar quality) for a couple dollars. The flavoring goes a loooong way.
