I keep hearing we need to "dry burn" a clearomizer or atomizer. Why is this necessary? Does this mean we can use the atomizer(head) repeatedly rather than throwing it away after awhile? (I have a vivi nova).

What is that gunk that I hear about? Is that unhealthy? I mean, does that get into our lungs like tar in a cigarette? thanks

its not tar, but is mostly made up of crystalized sugar, and liquid from the juice you have in there. i usually soak them in hot water for about 10 minutes let dry for a hour or 2 then do a quick dry burn till i can see the coil glow red. then put it all back in the tank. add 2 drops to the coil to speed up wicking, refill tanks and go about my normal non stop vaping as usual

The coil is not 100% efficient in "vaporizing" the fluid, therefore there will be a build up of residue or
"crud" from vaping. The build up reduces the efficiency of the coil and periodic cleaning will not
only maintain that efficiency but also prolong the life of the coil.

Darker and/or sweeter fluids will build up residue faster. Some e-juices are so dense in particulates
that they are referred to as "atty killers" and will "gunk up" an atty or carto very quickly.

The "crud" is mostly just carbonized residue and the very little that may be inhaled should not be
harmful. After all, the lungs are designed to flush out dust and other particulates that are inhaled
during regular breathing. Most people would be appalled at the amount and type of floating debris
that humans inhale every day.

Okay, another related question. You see, I smoke Marlboro menthol, and my smoking friend used to tell me that menthol is bad for you because it "crystallizes your lungs". Now that I got into vaping, I really like the menthol flavor from VaporGod. It's just like smoking a menthol cig when it comes to taste.

But I want to know if menthol is actually bad for you. If it is, I might want to do other flavors. thanks

I was always told it was the fact some companies use fiberglass filters for menthol cigs is where the problem was, I do know that like when I have a cold or my allergies are acting up the menthol helps.

I am not sure about "facts" when it comes to menthol. I believe there are different opinions ( urban legends )
on how cig mnf's gave tobacco that menthol kick. I think the most common one was that somehow
fiberglass was used to make menthol cigs.

When it comes to menthol e-juice, I know from my reading up on DIY juice, that menthol crytals are
used to give e-juice the menthol kick. I know it is very popular, not just for taste, but for the extra
heavy throat hit or "kick" in the chest, to help emulate smoking even more.

You might want to check some of the DIY threads for more info on menthol.
I have not seen any warnings in the general threads to suggest menthol is bad.
There is also a lot of info in the medical/health sub forums that you might want to check.
