Also, I think we are/were addicted to the HABIT of smoking. I actually was vaping on day 2, and picked up a cig to light, before I caught myself. Today is my 1 week anniv. and I don't miss smoking, but I miss the routine, if that makes sense. I just keep telling myself that this too, shall pass. Maybe like a kidney stone, but it WILL pass.

Makes sense to me, Lisa. Smoking was always a psychological thing for me. Thankfully, vaping has replaced that.

(The first few days of vaping, I kept wanting to flick my ashes.)

You smoke Newports! ;)

Yeah.. I bought a pack of newports from a liquor store a few months back because it was the only close place that had cigarettes.. was like 7 bucks.. tasted 1.. gave the pack away.. horrible.. I ended up driving to get my usual camel menthol silvers lol.

I agree that the emotional attachment to the habit of smoking tells you that you want something you really don't and that this emotional attachment can be a really powerful force which is separate from physical addiction. I have fond memories of eating chips ahoy chocolate chip cookies as a child. They are mediocre at best, but one day as an adult, I had an intense craving for them. I didn't want a freshly baked homemade chocolate chip cookie. I wanted chips ahoy. So, I actually made a special trip to the store, bought some, ate one, and was thoroughly disappointed. The rest of the cookies languished in the cupboard until they were stale and had to be thrown out. My emotions told me they were yummy and that I had to have some. My emotions were wrong.
