I am a newbie even though I lurked and joined a couple years ago. I started with Blu and went back to analogs. Just got an ego set up from our local Vape shop with Clearomizer.

I don't think the guys in the Vape store are correct when I asked what the shelf life of the eJuice is. They replied 2 years. If that is so, then why did some I bought a couple years ago have a "use by" date on it?

When I bought my set up at the Vape store, I asked for the high nicotine eJuice, so I can get off analogs due to DH smoking in front of me. They refused to sell me their 22 mg and insisted because I told them I smoked a pack a day, that I needed their 16mg. It is close but not close enough for me to completely stay with vaping 100%.

I want to store this 16mg juice and go back during the week when other workers are there and pick up some stronger juice.

What do you recommend? Also how long can I save this other eJuice? I have 4 bottles.

Thanks in advance, it is much appreciated.

most juice can be stored for up to 2 years. The downside of long term storage is some juices have a change in flavor over time, sometimes is for the better. I usually use it till it starts turning dark if it was a light color originally.

as far as shop telling you what you do or dont need in terms of juice is a bit silly to me. as long as you are happy with the mg level and its not dangerously high like 36mg they should be more then happy to sell it too you! I would probably look into another shop

Nobody knows, really. :) Eliquids do deteriorate with time, their taste changes, the nicotine degrades and loses its potency eventually, but 2 years is usually considered OK. It if tastes OK and does the job, vape it. If if doesn't, throw it away. :)

And store them in a dark and cool place--light and oxygen are your enemies.

Next time tell em its for your uncle who smokes cigars.

Anyway what i've started doing myself is ordering 100% pg with 24mg nicotine.
1 ml of that plus 3 ml of usp vg will get me 6mg of 25/75 pg/vg;
I wont be measuring though; I'll just be starting with 1:1 and adding more vg if its too strong

Oh another thing to consider: 16mg in a 100%PG eliquid is going to taste alot harder that 16mg in a 30/70 pg/vg eliquid

The rated shelf life is 2 years.

Personally I wouldn't vape anything more than 6 months old unless I was storing it myself. If I was storing it myself so I could make sure it stayed at a stable temperature with no light then I would keep it until the color or consistency changed, or 1 year, whichever came first.

As for any store refusing to sell a 22-24mg liquid to a pack a day smoker, I would walk out and never return. They apparently don't know what they are doing and I wouldn't trust them after making such a blatantly wrong statement.

A single Camel or Marlboro filter cigarette contains about 1.3mg of nicotine. That means a pack contains 26mg of nicotine. You almost certainly need a 22-24mg liquid to satisfy you. If you were smoking lights, then 18-20mg is what you need. And regardless of what THEY think, they should sell you what you ask for.

I can see where you came up with that mathematical formula but its nowhere near correct. This one guy near where I used to live smoked almost a carton a day and that formula would have killed him.

What awesome answers and advice! You all are so good, and one is very funny/comical. Thank you! Even for the laugh.

CompletelyAverage: I have to totally agree because I need the nic to keep me from bumming off DH a couple times a day. The first couple days with vaping was OK but now I am seeing I need something at those times that is stronger than what I have. Prefer the taste of the liquid over the analogs.

I did want to walk out of that store and not go back, but it is the ONLY store within 60 miles. I could order juice from a vendor here, but it won't get to me tomorrow like driving over to the store and telling them I need the juice for my cigar smoking uncle.

I think (I might be wrong) that I need a stronger mg for a month to help me fight the urges. Sadly the vape store has odd strengths of mg available. 16 or 22 which I don't consider normal. I forgot to say it is 50/50 also. I want to store the juice I have now for a month or two.

The only good points I have with this local store, is I can get it NOW, and they have a taste counter set up with every flavor ejuice they make. You can walk in and smorgasboard sample all their flavors. That surely helps me as a newbie.

I do plan on finding a vendor here for juice though. Thanks so much!

Edyle: where does a really new newbie easily find the supplies and knowledge to make our own juice? This forum is so huge I have spent hours and days and am confounded. That's why I gave up and drove on down to the Vape store out of frustration of which vaping device and this piece and that piece is needed.

I kept wishing the basics were stickies on the various threads. Say Juice/liquids have the beginner sticky's with instructions in order. Including the vaping device threads. It would make it easier to understand or figure out. KISS method.

The shelf life of e-liquids is determined by the shelf life of the base chemicals.

Shelf life according to Dow Chemical:

Propylene Glycol (PG): 24 months
Glycerin (VG): 14-24 months

The shelf life of the nicotine, flavorings and other ingredients can affect shelf life depending on user preferences. For instance, nicotine could oxidize and flavors could change prior to other shelf life limits.

I store my frozen base liquids no longer than 18 months and mix no more finished juice for shelf storage than will last me two months.

I should add...
The shelf life for PG and VG given above is for Propylene Glycol USP and Glycerin USP that has been poured from sealed bottles, exposed to air and mixed. This is what happens when nicotine base and e-liquids are mixed.

The shelf life for Glycerin USP and Propylene Glycol USP is much longer provided the product is in unopened USP described and FDA approved sealed containers. I have purchased fresh Gycerin USP that had a five year expiration date. That's five years at room temperature and away from sunlight.

I was a 3pad smoker. I tried all kinds of 24mg and 36mg eliquids and still had the urge. Then I found WTA (whole tobacco alkaloids) juice. I've never been happier. I still use the other juices I bought (got almost a hundred bottles) as a rotation with the WTA juice. My favorite is Aroma. The first juice of theirs I tried was Snickerdoodle. And they are FAST shipping. I can order 1 day and get the order 2 days later from Arizona to Indiana. I took the first vape and felt like smoking a cigarette for the first time, almost a 'high'. Try them!

I just ordered two bottles of WTA. 24mg is kind of scary to me but 12 mg was much worse right now. I ordered RY4 WTA and Beetle juice WTA. I believe I like the sweet but not too sweet with a taste of tobacco. I loving Peanut Butter & Jelly from the local shop because it does have a tobacco taste along with another flavor they sell and it is sweet with tobacco. Anything to let me leave the analogs behind right now.

The order probably won't be here before Monday. I'll keep enjoying what I have and will eventually alternate. Oh I did check out the eJuice and all I have is 16 mg. I was wrong, they don't sell 18. That may be part of my problem, but WTA has got to help.

Thank you all!

I would say just vape more of the 16 mg stuff until you are happy.

But when I started, I got the 18 mg and I could only do 1 ml per day. I couldn't vape enough according to my calculations. But I was feeling Ok. So I was satisfying my urge.

But if it isn't working for you all the time, get something stronger to get you through the rough patches.

In a few weeks, the answer might be different. Things change.

And don't be afraid of 24 mg/ml. A puff won't kill you. You will know when you are doing it too much.

Seems I'm way out on how long it's supposed to last.. I guess the canned food in my cupboard is bad too since it's past it's expiration..

I actually have some 'concentrate' as I called it back then, which is essentially just all the flavor / nic etc in a full PG base. I made it probably ~2008-2009? *just guessing here* it's been in a bottle for that long, and has been put away for almost the whole time. When I originally made it, all I had to essentially do is cut it evenly with VG (for 50/50) which was right where we liked it back then.. I found this when I restarted back up a few weeks ago, and this stuff is just as good as when I made it originally. (IF not better)

It still has one hell of a kick, still tastes great, and vapes amazingly. It's a bit darker than most of the stuff on the market nowadays, and I can't say whether or not it's gotten darker over the years of sitting because it was quite dark to begin with.

I guess it really just depends on what your comfortable with? The Dow as mentioned above says (2) years as long as it's kept below 104F.. I know mines never been anywhere near that though.

Am I killing myself?? Quite possibly, but its still gotta be better than a couple packs a day.

No, your sense of reality is distorted.

5 packs of cigarettes = 100 cigarettes

Now, let's say he's awake and smoking for 16 hours. That's 960 minutes. In order to smoke 5 packs a day he would have to smoke an entire cigarette and light a new one once ever 9 minutes and 10 seconds without missing a single one for 16 hours straight. He could not miss a single one for any reason or he would smoke less than 5 packs a day.

And you're claiming he smoked MORE than that?
