I have bought each of the 510 model realpass through devices I could find:
(Yes, until you find what you need, thiscan be an expensive hobby)

Variable Voltage 650mah Pass Through Variable Voltage 650mAh Pass Through E Cigarette | 3.2v 3.7v 4.2v | eGo Variable Volt E Cig

510/EGO USB Variable Voltage Pass through http://capitalvapor.com/prestashop/en/accessories/172-510-ego-usb-variable-voltage-passthrough.html

Smok Tech 5 Volt 510 Manual USB Passthrough
Acrilite 5 volt 510 Passthrough http://www.madvapes.com/catalogsearch/result/? order=relevance&dir=desc&q=pass+throughs

510 USB Manual PassThrough (Black)

VariVolt EGO/510Mini Passthrough
http://shop.nhaler.com/EGO-510-VariVolt-Mini-Passthrough-449.htm?categoryId=-1

And one of those Charge While Vaping, disconnect and takewith you, pass-through batteries

SLB eGo-V V2 Mega - VV LCD 1200mah – Black http://www.discountvapers.com/slb-ego-v-v2-mega-vv-lcd-1200mah-black/

None of the REAL (cannot remove charging cord) pass throughdevices can produce the vapor I get with a standard 1000 mAh ego battery.(Vision Vivi Nova mini with either 1.8 or 2.4 ohm coil)
Including the variable voltage models

The SLB (ego-wanna-be - I think it is really a Kanger)does not work well while charging and turns itself COMPLETELY off after 10seconds of a single vape (I know, safety first – but it is annoying)

I am a Technical Engineer for a large bank, work at homeand chain vape (I use 2, 1100 mAh batts per 10 hour shift)

So, to make a long story short (too late) how can Iidentify a 510 pass-through device that will consistently produce the continuousvaping experience I want? Oh, and I donot know about others, but those 1100 mAh batteries last me from 3 to 4 hours –extreme chain vaping (and that SLB lastsabout 2 hours (1200 mAh my a**))

I have uses different mixes of the PG and VG anddifferent strength ohm coils - but I just cannot match the pass-through experience tothe battery experience. What is the deal?

The advice of this forum is always appreciated. ------------ JMG

I have the same chain vaping issue on the weekends (I can kill my Provari in 6 hours flat, in extended battery mode, even set at only 3.8v), so I'm on the same quest. I haven't taken the plunge yet, but I'm seriously considering this one: The Pearl PT

It's a little pricey, and I haven't been able to find much out about it beyond the PBusardo review. Some would say having a wallwart is a turn off, but with my ego passthru, it's a waste of time to even try using my laptop anyway.

I'm hunting, too; but, does anyone know of one that would work without costing so much??? $80 would be outside of my budget for a while.

In this case, I think you get what you pay for. Have you tried the lower priced options? You can get a regular eGo 650mah for under $20. OP & I have tried them & they just don't cut it for us.

The major problem with those usb passthroughs is the fact that they are usb. The usb 2.0 a type connector on them is only rated for 1500 mA which is a little low for a good vape. I have never seen one with its own higher power source but that may be a good thing to look for.

It really sounds like your best bet is gona be alot of battery and chargers. Maybe if you know someone that can solder they could make you a custom passthrough with a wallwart.

I use a powered USB hub and do not connect any of the Pass-through devices to an actual computer. I thought the mAh rating had to do with the time a battery went between charges, not its ability to generate heat and vapor. As far as in can tell, the real 5 volt passthrough are not rated in mAh because they are not batteries. I have not been able to locate an ego, 510, battery with over 1200 mAh. Probably because all my accessories are 510. There are non-510 true passthroughs out there, but I have not decided to throw my money in that direction yet. :)

Hmmmmmmmm --- well in order of arrival

(1) I looked at the Pearl PT - looks good - you are correct, it appears to be a secret as far as available information on it -- I do not mind Paying money to getting something that works for me and I have spent twice that on the ones I listed -- Has its own power supply - but with a 10' cable I could make it work - solid possibility as a matter of fact, the lack of info on this product is odd - If it were Chinese made, it would be all over Google and AliBaba. Curious indeed.

(2) There are a lot of folks who get their stuff branded with their store logo when they order it it from China - The Apollo looks similar to at least one of the products I have tried - not much info on their site about it - I am leery of the difference between Standard and Extreme - it looks like they just include more "KIT" accessory's - and I do not need any new little friends - I found the liquid and delivery system I like, I just want a reliable power source that does not run on 2 or 3 $25 1100 mAh batteries a night.

In any case, Thanks All for your input. I direct anyone I run across who is interested in the Vape subculture to register here - it is the Wikipedia of E cigarettes. Veritas veritatis....

Thanks for the input everyone - after my last pass-through started working sporadically, I bit the bullet and spent the 75 or so dollars and bought the Pearl PT. I do not think it will be giving up the ghost after a month of hard use - this bad boy is built to last. Has more power than I ever anticipate using, beefy cord and cord protector for those "Awwww Crap, I guess I should have put it down before I leapt out of my chair", moments that signal the death knell for the more delicate pass-throughs I have used. The only one less expensive but still having the cord protection, although only one 5 volt power selection, was the Acrilite 5 volt 510 Pass-through. It has lasted the longest, but I find the hand position just short of "OK, put down the weapons or I detonate the explosives" uncomfortable. It was a learning experience holding this Big Boy while vapeing at my computer as the cord is somewhat stiff at first, and had to relax before I could get the power button where I wanted it. There is nothing cheap about this device. It is has a solid feel and if it does break, send it back to the VaprLife folks (on your dime after the warranty expires) and for a fee (no free lunch) they will fix and even upgrade it.
The power button has a nice solid "click" when pressed. I wish it were a little larger as it does take some pressure to hold it in, and that spot on my finger, thumb, whatever, gets a little sensitive (I press it a LOT). Easy enough to change position.
I added up the money I spent looking for the right pass-through and realized at 14 to 20 bucks a pop, I could have bought 2 and a half of these Pearls, but as I have come to learn, getting the right vape is a learning, and occasionally expensive, process.
So, all in all, I appreciate the tip from charmschool about the Pearl, and all the others who contributed. Peace Out.
