Personally, I don't think anything between the Twist and the Provari really jumps out at me as obviously a good choice.

The Twist (or Vision Spinner…very similar) is awesome. I own two of them and don't see getting rid of them ever. I'll keep at least one around as long as they're made and working.

The Provari has its shortcomings (watch a video on the 1-button menu system…it's only downfall) but I'll be getting one at some point. I finally got a chance to use one this weekend, and it's a really impressive device. I was terrified that the menu system would bug me, but if anything it's more like having to scold the adorable puppy that ate the next piece of bacon you wanted (though not the last one) than something I'd really get mad at.

Between them, it's basically a bunch of stuff that isn't tuned correctly, might not be cool enough if you like cool vapes, can burn things because of the way they use PWM (pulse width modulation), and the buzz pro.

Here
How come none of those /really/ expensive mods come into these discussions, like that Spanish or whatever Carvela or something like that, or those um, I forget, but similar hand-made fancy, sleek and shiny ones? Are they not VV/VW? And did anyone answer about the difference between variable voltage and variable wattage? Thanks!

The difference between variable voltage and varible wattage is that one regulates the voltage and the other regulates the wattage.
Do you have questions on ohm's law or how voltage, resistance, amperage and wattage relate to producing vapor?

I could be just plain wrong. I haven't researched them because I find them more gaudy than pretty, but I think they're all simple mechanical mods and aren't regulated without adding a kick or something. Please, someone, correct me if I'm wrong.

How about the provape 1 is it any good
The Provape 1 is not variable voltage. It's a durable, smaller-sized mod that has several built-in safety features that other mods in its price range do not have. Lifetime warranty. Provape excellent customer service.

The ego Twist represents the entry level of variable voltage. Pro's include inexpensive enough for the masses to experience variable voltage. Con's include it is ultimately a disposable device designed to last only several months. Customer service limited to length of warranty or whatever seller offers.

In between are the Chinese-made variable voltage/variable wattage devices. Materials and manufacturing, fit and finish, performance and accuracy can be rather hit or miss for all of them, YMMV. Limited warranty, then can be considered a disposable device like the Twist.

The Provari. Materials, manufacturing, fit and finish, performance and accuracy are second to none. American made with outstanding customer service, repair service available even after warranty. Should last years instead of just months, uses rechargable $10 batteries that last a year, company known to upgrade components for a nominal fee to stay current in a quickly changing technology. Numerous safety features and Acuset Technology (what voltage you set, you will get from start to end of battery charge). Built-in battery and ohm meter. Not inexpensive.

Does anyone know what is the best varible voltage device for you money

I'm very happy with my Pro buzz. I use the daylights out of it, 306 LR's, Dual Cart Tanks and 510s NR. Price was not bad at all. I use it so much, I'm afraid I'm going to break it or ware out the batteries. So, I decided to add a Kick for my Silver Bullet and broke the bank to get a Provari V2 to give the Pro Buzz a break once in a while. I'm not a China fan, but did give the Zmax some thought. Zmax looks like a nice entry level VV VW unit. Don't know how well it will work with dual cart tanks?

Well, for my money....the Provari.. I purchased the YJ ver 2.0 of the LT and it lasted a whopping 32 days before dieing....bit the bullet and purchased the Provari. I am amazed with the first day of using it. It is a much smoother vape without a harsh "high note" just really enjoyable. Other than The fact that it is just amazing in every way I am hoping that it lasts, based on others' experience it should.
