What is the proper way to clean your tanks?

A friend and I have been having an argument on the proper way to clean tanks.

I use aspire nautilus 5ml,and I know they say they are dishwasher safe, but I personally disassemble them, put them in a small bowl, and soak them 20-30 minutes in rubbing alcohol, then allow them to dry completely.

It's always worked well for me, and I've never had an issue, but he's claiming that this will ruin the coils.

So, how do you clean your tanks?

Hey hi, well soaking in rubbing alcohol is recommended for the first time you use your tanks and parts, mainly to get rid of the oil residue they use while machining the different parts. But if its a tank you have already used i would only soak or rinse in some warm water and dry burn the coil. Please note that PG and VG as well as nicotine and flavour is soluble in water so... Now if you are using flavour with water insoluble oil guess a simple soaking in any edible hydro alcoholic solution will do [vodka etc]

It won't ruin the coils... the juice inside causes more damage to coils than rubbing alcohol ever will.

Vodka is okay too but the most effective to me is to rinse with water, let soak in hot water and then let it dry. Doesn't really matter in my opinion. My coils usually last over a month and I chain vape.

Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

So you don't clean between changing flavors?

I usually don't either. I kind of have a process where I will use certain flavors after each other so it doesn't affect taste.

The exception is if you're using spearment or redhotz. Those flavors will stay in your tank after cleaning multiple times. My girlfriend had spearmint in her tank about 2 months ago and after cleaning quite a few times, there is still a hint of it in there.

Most fruity and dessert flavors you don't have to clean your tank when changing flavors.

I use vodka too, but only for cleaning my stomach lining from the inside ;) ...

Soak in hot water with a drop of detergent. Rinse throughly in clear hot water. Dry or let dry. Do a dryburn if the coil is still good enough or rebuild.

But there's probably as many ways to clean than there are vapers doin the cleaning. Any method that yields the desired result is a good method :)

Oh I'm so glad this question was asked. I am getting a new tank this weekend and would have asked the same question. I never even knew that you could wash your coil lol I guess that's how people can make them last longer. Being dirt poor, this definitely helps me.

Dirt poor:
Look up dryburning and rewicking your coils on youtube

I never use alcohol of any kind to clean the tank body. Warm water with a drop of dishwashing detergent is all it needs. The coils, however, is a different matter. I soak them from time to time in PGA (91 or 99% Isopropyl alcohol is OK too, if you rinse it thoroughly afterwards or let it dry completely). Once a week I dry burn them and they are like new again. Then I toss them--they are disposable, after all. They can also be rebuilt.

I put very hot water in a bowl and take my tank apart piece by piece (PBC TANK). Watch closely when you do this, you want to know were your rubber grommets are at all times. So when you put it back together you don't have liquid running down your hand upon filling it after you put it back together. Then I dry burn my coil, put a drop of liquid on my coil and then on my flavor wicks. Fill the tank and vape my face off :)
