Once again the e-juice community is confusing the hell out of me! I was wondering if there was some kind of guide or chart that I could use for future juice purchases.

I ordered a bottle of 8MG Cotton Candy from Volcano the other day (I've used their 0MG before and it tastes just like Cotton Candy.) I wanted to see if I would feel a difference when vaping juice that actually had nicotine in it (would it be different then vaping juice with no nicotine, etc?) So I get the bottle and the juice smells and tastes awful...NOTHING like the 0MG at all...as a matter of fact it tastes like something burnt (you fill in the blank.)

I want to know how is this possible? Nicotine is odorless and tasteless, it should not be altering the taste or smell of the juice...so now I'm back to square one all over again...I feel like I have no idea in what I'm doing and I feel like I have no trust in the vendors because it's always a "surprise" in the mail...

Now I have yet another bottle to add to my growing collection of "I don't like this"...

I've been vaping 0 mg nicotine liquids for months now. When I purchase nicotine liquids (often samplers only come in 16-18 mg strengths) I can definitely taste the nic.

When I used the Nicotrol inhaler to try to quit smoking, it had no other flavor besides nicotine. Nicotine (to me) has a very chemically peppery flavor to it. I taste this flavor in nic liquids. There is a flavor difference between nicotine added liquids and no nic liquids. IMHO, YMMV.

This just gets more interesting by the second lol...

If you google Nicotine you will see where wikipedia says it's both an odorless and tasteless product (as well as many other sites too!) So this is quite interesting...also I was told on this very forum a month ago that ordering juice WITH nicotine actually made the flavor of the juice you were buying more "flavorfull"...that doesn't seem to be the case either. So you are saying I was given incorrect information? 0MG always give the most flavor from the flavor you picked?

Also about the Nicotrol Inhaler...I used that too and it is in fact flavored WITH menthol, they are not made without it...the peppery flavor you were tasting was infact the menthol...with me it actually burned my throat when I used the product...I threw the crap out!

Here's another loop for ya Dayvidpriddy. I vape 18mg but one of my favorite vendor's juices can only be ordered in 19mg. So I think that just 1mg isn't going to be a difference? Right? Nope, big difference in how it affects me. I love her juice but it hits my system harder than other vendor's 18mg or even 20mg. I'm talking about virginvapor.com. Annette's juices are fabulous. I can actually get a "buzz" from them. Not really bad or anything but can definitely feel it. I love it!

The rule with straight nic is that it's suppose to be clear, tasteless, and ordorless. However, some vendors will sell stuff that has an odor...it doesn't mean it's bad nic. It's just how it was refined and how "clean" of a nic it is.

Good luck on your search...it will be a tough one to figure out.

No. I would say nicotine infused liquids have more flavor, it just happens to be more of a flavor I don't prefer. I understand many people/ sources would say you can't taste nicotine. Perhaps what I'm describing as taste (chemical pepper) is more of a sensation (artificial prickliness on my tongue and nose.) Regardless, like many vapers, I believe in a blind taste test, I could tell the difference between a significant nicotine added liquid and a no nic liquid 99% of the time.

Really? Learn something new every day. For awhile I used to smoke menthols, and I don't remember them tasting anything like pepper. I would tend to agree that the nicotrol inhaler does not work for long term cigarette cessation. I could force myself to use it rather than smoke, but once the script ran out, guess what I was doing again? However, that experience did set me up for giving personal vaporizers a shot. I figured if they even worked in similar fashion, I'd have a shot at dropping the coffin nails. PVs do work. This is the first time I've gone 10 months without smoking since I started the dirty habit. Nicotrol doesn't work long term, PVs do. There's not much more to say about that. ;)

But back to the topic at hand. If you like the cotton candy flavor, and that flavor is primarily sweetned with ethyl maltol, you may very well enjoy Backwoods Brew Malty. You can find it at Backwoods Brew. When I vape it, I have had many people comment that it smells like cotton candy. Some reviewers describe the flavor as spun sugar, although I think it has a touch of a citrus note to it. It's certainly a performance based liquid. Fantastic vapor, full inhale with a dry exhale, it really fools your brain into thinking you're smoking, even at 0 mg. Ecopure Rich from Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. is similar, but I personally prefer the Malty.

Good luck!

You also have to factor in three different people could taste three different things vaping the same juice (dependng on the juice).
When I got my MAlibu Pineapple I loved it so much I had to get both hubby and daughter (adult) to try it. When I vape it I taste pineapple with coconut undertones. They both tasted coconut. Daughter could taste the pinapple but faintly. Hubby thought he was vaping coconut juice.
