What is wrong with me?

I was soooo excited about becoming a "vaper". I bought a kit for myself and my daughter and a bunch of extra cartomizers and juice as an extra special early Christmas present. My daughter is LOVING it! She's been using hers for about a week now. She had a real cigarette yesterday just to see what it would be like and she said it tasted horrible. On the other hand, I am just miserable! Every single flavor I've tried is just perfectly revolting to me. I get a hint of what the flavor is supposed to be, but the main taste I get is this horrible burnt-plastic-artificial sweetener nastiness. It's just disgusting. Has anyone else had this happen? I bought everything from Vapor King and I'm pretty sure everything is working right. My daughter is certainly happy. Am I just weird? Might it be the PG, or the flavorings? What can I try? Heck, at this point I'd be happy with NO flavor over what I'm experiencing. Blech!

I'm finding the same thing with my brother. I am just loving the flavours but he just does not get it- Might as well be vaping old socks. He does smoke an awful lot so maybe his tastebuds are shot to some degree.Have you tried menthol.

That's why it's mentioned over and over on this forum that no one can really suggest a winning flavor or supplier because everyone's taste buds are different, and your post, AprilRain, is proof positive of that concept.

All I can suggest is trying out different flavors and sample packs until you find a flavor that you like.

If you end up with a surplus of juice, you can always head over to the Classified and Swaps part of the forum to Buy, Sell, and Trade your excess!

Wait till the atty is broken in some more (Puff and blow for a while till the atty takes on the flavour of the juice you are trying to use). Also blow out the priming fluid (Blow from both ends, catch all the liquid in a paper towel. Then put 4-5 drops on the atty and try again). And make sure you keep the atty nice and damp. Make sure there are no polyfill fibres left on the atty, which can burn from the heat and make the terrible taste.

What atty, starter kit and juice are you trying?

You got it Scottbee! It's the VaporKing from V4L. LOL I hate... really, really HATE fiddling with stuff, so I got the two piece hoping it would be nice and simple for me. I like the way the unit works and think I would absolutely love the thing if I can figure out how to get around the nasty taste. The flavors I've tried are; RY4, coffee, menthol, Kamel, pear, strawberry, cherry, raspberry & mint. I get a hint of the actual flavor it's supposed to be, but every one of them has that awful overtone of burnt plastic and an overpowering fake sugary thing.

I know you said you don't want to fiddle with stuff, but you could try changing the cart stuffing. See the subforum on cartridge mods. Different fillers will change the flavor. I don't know if you can do that with a cartomizer (I'm sure someone here will let you know) or if you will have to switch to a three piece model.

a couple of possibilities... higher nic level tend to mean less flavor (so if you are using high nic cartos... that "could" be it "could" )

dry cart... sometimes a few under filled carts slip out of the factory... sometimes an entire bad batch makes out to the consumer world.

Are you getting that taste on the regular battery, or on the pass-thru, or both? Does this taste happen right away? I don't care much for RY4 myself (it tastes like burnt sugar to me), but a lot of people like it. But of the others you mentioned, I've tried the pear, cherry, coffee, menthol and mint and they all seem fine to me. The menthol and mint in particular don't have any "artificial" taste to them, at least according to my taste buds.

You might try getting some blank cartos and trying some other juices. I have ordered several times from TastyVapor.us (I particularly like his Cafe Mocha, Cafe Machiatto, Strawberry Cheesecake and Butter Rum -TV version). And I just got some French Toast flavor from Ms. T's Bakery Essentials, and it is terrific. The juices I've used are a PG/VG blend, and I've found they produce more vapor than the V4L stock cartos. I read that V4L is working on getting some VG in the future.

Hopefully you can find some flavors that are agreeable - great to hear that your daughter is doing well with it!

Have you taken a hit off your daughter's e-cig? Maybe there's an abiding burnt plastic problem with yours. Just don't give up and know that some of the rest of us can't find that great one favorite flavor we want so much either.

My favorite so far is the Pear Lung from Nhaler....but everyone likes that one. It tastes like biting directly into the juciest pear you've ever had, and the taste is strong, not weak like so many of these juices. So far I don't like any of the tobacco flavors. The only flavor I really love enough to vape all day is in the Njoy carts and you can't buy their juice in bottles so I'm outta luck.

Don't give up. Try your daughter's e-cig. Hang in there!

I think I found the problem. It's the prefilled cartomizers! I got out the empty cartos I ordered and filled them with juice that I bought from the same place and tried it. That taste isn't there!!!!!!! I just taste the flavor I'm supposed to and a heck of a nic hit (I got 36 mg). YAY!!!! I really like the peach and the RedBull. I get it now!

Now I have gobs and gobs of prefilled carts to wash out.

Excellent! I know there was a problem with some "perfumey" cartomizers a while back, and there have also been some cases where they weren't filled enough at the factory, so maybe one of those issues contributed to the problem. Anyway, glad to hear you got it sorted out!

You should definitely let the people at Vapor4Life know about the bad cartomizers. They will probably replace them for you at no cost; they're very good like that.
