What is wrong with my new setup?

Hi there folks,

I've been experimenting with new setups and I've got two that are working well for me- an eGo Twist with a dual coil carto, and an eGo with Resurrector Jr. cartos. I bought a third setup as a starter kit, but I'm really unhappy with it, and I'm wondering if I did something wrong here.

Here is the link to the kit I got:
Link

It said in the item description that it came with instructions, but it didn't. Honestly, I didn't think it was too hard to figure out- I unscrewed everything to make sure I knew how all the parts interacted, I let the battery charge til full, I filled it, I waited an hour to make sure the wick was soaked and....

Weaksauce!

It came really highly recommended, so I'm assuming it's user failure on my part. juice used was 18mg. 80PG/20VG... same juice I have in my other setups. It doesn't taste like anything, there is zero TH, and there is very little vapor. I've posted pics below- they're a little bit tilted, but I don't think I filled it too high. There are markers on the tank that go up to 2.0 and I only have it filled to slightly over 1.0.

Any help is appreciated!

I actually think his tongue got numbed. Its unlikely that the wattage is so low he doesnt get flavor - i get flavor even at 4 watts. Thats why i asked for vapor production - if the vapor is good and yet he got no flavor, his tongue got temporarily numb.

the op said "there is very little vapor"

I have an e-power that takes IMR 14500 batteries like yours, but mine has a blue button, so it may not be exactly the same. Mine had an intermittent problem, where it would fire a few times, then just quit, especially when I put it down or stood it upright in a rack. When I pressed the button, the light would light, but there was little or no electricity going to the carto. I discovered that when it pooped out, the cure was to unscrew the battery end of the tube partway, then screw it back in tight. It was past the warranty period, so I just stopped using it.

Just for grins, I dug it out, juiced up a carto, and tried it. Same intermittent problem. But it works reliably when I screw in a genuine Vision Vivi Nova mini. So no joy for you there.

Complicating all this is the fact that clones of both e-powers and Vision Vivi Novas are common, and many of them don't work as well as the genuine article. Check the graduations and numbers on the side of your Vivi Nova Minis. Genuine ones have the numbers above the graduation lines, with the "tenths" digits over the right ends of the lines and the "hundredths" digits to the right of the lines. (I'd take a picture, but I don't have a camera with a macro lens that can get close enough.) Clones either don't have "hundredths" digits (they go "0.5" "1.0," "1.5," "2.0") or the digits aren't in the same place that I indicated.

Have you "rolled" the tank horizontally to make sure the wick is fully saturated? Have you tried a different tank on it?- Sometimes the battery connector on the tank is not connecting fully with the firing pin on the tube. Try GENTLY pulling the inner pin on the tank out/ down about 1/ 32" so that's it's making a good connection.

She. And my husband tried it as well- he says the same thing I do. As mentioned above, there is little to no vapor.

I'd say slap the tank on your twist and turn the volts up a lil and see if that helps. If you have a multi meter check the ohm of the tanks and the volts coming out of the battery.

Will do- not sure why I didn't think to do that.

Thanks- will try that as well. I had no idea about rolling the tank.

just a thought...is the head screwed on securely inside the tank ?

I'll have to look, and I'll re-screw it on.

Ok, I put it on my eGo Twist, and now it's producing vapor. Still has a funky taste, though. I can barely taste the liquid, I get more of a burnt metallic taste. It does have a metal drip tip on it (which I thought might be contributing to the problem), but I tried it with a rubber tip as well, and the problem was still there.

It did come with 2 tanks, so I guess I'll try the other one after dinner.

Lol-- I tried it with the second tank on the Twist, and now it works great.

I have to say- I really like vaping, but I seem to have gotten some really bum equipment. Seems like every third carto/clearo doesn't work, my first battery didn't work... I guess I'll have to take the other one apart and replace the wick, try and get the first tank working as well as the second.

Try to find one vendor and stick with them as much as you can. I recommend the smoktech vivi nova from gotvapes. I haven't had any leaking and it works great. It has a spring loaded connection on the bottom to help make a good contact with the battery. I was getting some bad stuff here and there at first too and got really frustrated too. But I mainly order from gotvapes and vapor beast now and everything works great.
