What Is Your "Go To" Build?

The gauges , number of wraps, and I.D. will change depending on which atty and mod I'm using, but my "go to" build is a staged fused Clapton. Kanthal cores, nichrome wrap, nichrome staging.
Of all the builds I've tried, I still can't find anything that I like better than this one.

WOW, that is a work of art. Im surprised that no one else has chimed in. Maybe they are taking their atties apart and working on the perfect build so they can photograph it.

I feel real primitive. I use a few different atomizers so the mounting etc varies but the coils and the way I wick are basically like this one. Boring...
28g 316 SS wrapped at anywhere from 2.4mm in diameter to 1.6. Usually resistance comes out to an average of .90.

Dont laugh, Its what works for me, I have many limitations

Like anavidfan, my common builds are very basic.

26 ga kanthal around a 2.5 mil pin w/ 6 wraps or a 2.0 mil pin w/ 8 wraps deliver ~ 0 .8 ohms.

I'm with you on the fused. So far I haven;t been able to top it. 26 gauge kanthal cores, 6 wraps, 36 outer nichrome. 2.7 mm ID. Duals ohm out right at .2..which is pushing it for single tube mechs, but solid for dual regulated devices. Going up to 3mm ID gets me a little higher in the ohms so its safer for a single tube mech. I haven't tried staging them yet, whats the advantage, other then the fast ramp up?

4 wrap 26 X 32 kanthal clapton, 2.5 = .516 Ohms

6 wraps 26 gauge 316L stainless steel around a 2.3 or 3 mm screwdriver (depends on the atty air intake size). Comes out to .2 to .23 ohms.
I've made clapton and fused clapton coils, I feel like the difference isn't huge. I typically run a mech and coil response time is important to me, so I feel like I gain more through less coil mass.

Generally:
dual 24G 6 wraps at 2.dmm ID ~ 0.25ohms on a mech
dual 28G 10 wraps at 2.5mm ID ~ 0.9 ohms on a regulated device

Quad parallel 28 gauge wire. Coil diameter, number of wraps, dual, or single coil all depending on the atty.


6 strands of 30 gauge parallel vape nice too but is much more difficult to work with.

Single coil, from .7-1.3ohm using from 32awg to 28awg. I prefer the flavor of twisted wire, but when I want the wick to last longer I run single wire. currently running 2x32 Nich at 1.2 wicked with silica in a Chalice III on my C-Reo.

twisted 4 wires 34 g kantal. 8 wraps or so usualy around 1.4 to 2 ohms
very nice flavor in aromamizer tank . vaping at about 20 to 22 watts . good rampup time to w good battery life.

I build for a mech and like a very fast ramp up. Dual coils, 23G or 24G N80, 3.2mm-3.6mm ID, 3 wide spaced wraps.

I've been using 26g, 316 SS wire lately. Usually a basic dual coil 8 wraps each over 3mm rod or 10 to 11 wraps each over a 2.5mm rod, depending on the rda or rta. Sometimes I'll do parallel coils if I need a single coil build. When I'm feeling lazy I'll use a couple of prebuilt Youde clapton coils and call it done, lol. Most of my builds are between 0.2 ohms and 0.7 ohms, depending on what I'm building on. I use regulated mods most of the time except for a few mechanical squonk boxes I've got.

Wicking is actually what I've been experimenting with lately. I have three different brands of Japanese cotton, a package of Cotton Bacon v2 and some ReadyXwick in various sizes, plus just got in some stainless steel rope that I want to try threading through the ReadyXwick soon. Maybe I'll try to get my hands on some mesh and rayon or some of the less popular stuff like bamboo or hemp too, but I'm not sure on those. So far my Cotton Labo is made of win though, just FYI.

Rayon is fantastic. It wicks so much better than cotton.
