I remember having a carton of cigarets stored away just in case my e-cig efforts failed. I was a 2 pack a day smoker and although i wanted to quit, I had little confidence in succeeding.
The person from whom I purchased my kit and juice, asked me to try a cigarette the third day after I started vaping. I honestly had no craving for a cigarette after the first draw from my e-cig. When the third day of vaping came along, I lit up a cigarette. I was dizzy and felt the same sensations of smoking for the first time. When i called my vendor to tell her what happened, she simply stated: "There is a lot more going on than nicotine in that cigarette, isn't it." Needless to say, I threw the carton in the trash after our phone conversation. That was nearly 5 years ago.

I wanted to quit, but had tried the dispossable ones and that just did not cut it. Went back to the real thing. Then a co worker had a ego and I knew how well she was doing with it. I bought a new car and decided I did not want it smelling like smoke. They had just opened a b & m down the street so I stopped in. I really figured I would just vape in the car since my last experience did not work out so well. Next thing I knew I was not smoking at all. I have gone way over my smoking budget since I started, but I really think I have everything I will want and need (at least for now) and I should start saving. Up side is the wife is into it as well. So we have tons and tons of stuff to play with.

i tried a joye 510 in 2008, absolutely hated it. last maybe 2 weeks, tried all the cartridge mods. it still leaked like crazy and i was always getting mouthfuls of juice. during those 2 weeks i still smoked the entire time but maybe a 1/2 pack less a day.

flash forward to a month ago. today is my 30 day cig free anniversary (yea me!). i was tired of my stepson complaining about the smell, tired of my house stinking, tired of making my non smoker wife stink (i was a 2+PAD smoker who works from home. no way was i going outside over 40 times a day to smoke) so i researched a bit to see if they were any dif now. looked like they had improved immensely so i ordered a starter kit. got my igo4 kit in the mail a few days later. smoked my last cig while i was opening it and checking it out. havent really had a desire for a cig since. ecigs are 1000x better now than they were back in 08'.

i still have a pack of smokes sitting in my drawer. but i have a vamo 5, vtr, 2 igo 4's a cool fire 1 and an mvp 2.0 sitting on my desk along with 40+ juices. they are much more desirable than my stinky cigs that are tucked away in my drawer for good, well until i finally flush them.

The short, bulleted version of my success story is:

  • 43 year smoker - never wanted to, or even tried to quit
  • Stopped at the smoke shop for supplies (rolled my own) for a 600 mile roadtrip to NYC.
Had a few spare minutes, so told him to tell me a bit about the e-cig starter kit (2 ego bats & tanks)
    Bought the kit
  • Motivation to purchase & try: curiosity and I'm a tightwad / save money
  • 7-10 days later, my stock of cigarettes stayed about the same - just kept reaching for the vape more & more until I realized I had gone 2 days without lighting up a t-burner
  • Put cig supplies & 40-50 cigs in a box and got on with my new, smoke-free life!!
Btw, I did all this on down-low - didn't tell anyone, just did it. I didn't want the constant comments of support and 'how ya doing' questions.

2 weeks after going 100% vape, I told my wife, figuring she would have been starting to figure something was up. Nah, she really hadn't noticed. Think I have to get out of the workshop more and some time with her

The next part of my success story is having 3 converts, and working on a couple of brothers too.

Vape on and pay it forward - save a smoker's life!

Shorter Version: Smoking 10+years, had a kid 10 month ago, decided I wanted him to have a healthy dad for as long as possible. Started Chantix, got down to just under half pack a day, then overnight went back to a full PAD. Went to my parents one day and saw they had a "nifty" (their words not mine) e-cig. Tried it...Liked it...went out an bought an ego style. Never looked back. I will say this though, I have tried Chantix multiple times, the patch, the gum, cold turkey...hell I have probably tried to quite a couple hundred times. The day I got my ecig...it was over. I have picked up 2 analogs in the time I have been vaping and darn near vomitted the last time. Never will I touch another one. Vape On my friends.

At about the age of nine I discovered that if I swiped one of my fathers cigarettes I could make the throat tick go away (Tourette's syndrome), that was in 1949 or 50. As a result I found myself addicted to smoking by the time I outgrew the Tourette's as a teanager. Then for years I never gave smoking much thought because it was "the thing to do" anyway, and by the time I did think about quitting I found that I could not.

I encountered my first smoking related health problem at the early age of 38, passing an embolism to the brain. Would you believe I smoked a cigarette in the recovery room of the hospital!? To this day I remember how badly I wanted that cigarette, and how hard I worked to get it.

Since then I failed at trying to quit smoking far more times than I would care to admit to. Even after triple bypass surgery I was unable to quit, and finally just came to the conclusion that "these things are going to kill me" ..... and they almost did.

In April of 2011 a friend introduced me to e-cigarettes, and I found the transition from smoking to vaping literally seamless. So I know that vaping works, because it already has ..... I'm still alive!

Now at the age of 73, I just might get to hang around for another decade or two.

I bought a joye 510 with a co-worker and a week later bought an ego. Two weeks later I had no desire for a cigarette. My co-worker is still smoking but just never took to vaping. I was a smoker for 42 years and have been a vaper for 1 year and will never go back. I have an Evic, Vamo, VTR, MVP, itaste and a few stray egos and I'm still saving money vaping.

The amazing thing for so many people here is how easy it was to quit smoking once they starting vaping. I never thought I would be able to quit smoking anyways, so when I quit the day I got my starter kit, I was more shocked than anyone. To this day, I have not tryed to smoke a cigarette and I had smoked for 30+ years. I wish I had done it sooner.
