I was the type of smoker that was always trying to quit. I tried numerous times over the years but nothing ever stuck. If I hadn't found my PV I imagine that I would still be in that cycle.

My main reasons for quitting were:

1) Health - I started waking up gasping for air but even before that I was trying to quit because I knew that it was a very unhealthy habit.
2) Cost - It coincided with the downturn of the economy which effected us greatly as well as the increase in taxes making the cost of my habit unjustifiable.
3) Smell - I hated the way the smoke clung to my hair, body, clothes, etc. So perhaps a bit of shame was there too but even if smoking was still widely accepted I would still hate the smell.

I wish I could remember where I first heard of ecigs. I think it might have been a banner ad but I'm not really sure. I googled ecigs and landed here. I'm so thankful that this forum was here.

To be honest, I wish I never got on that merry go round. Big tobacco marketed to me when I was a teenager. If you are around my age or older, I'm sure you are familiar with Joe Camel and all of the insta gifts you got when you bought a pack of smokes. I was 15 and my room was full of cool lighters, coasters, playing cards, etc. with a picture of Joe Camel and a cig in his mouth. Then it was on to Marlboro's and saving my miles for even cooler gifts. Sad.

ETA: I hate Big tobacco. I accept full responsibility for my choice in smoking but I hate that they marketed to me when I was young and impressionable. As I grew older and realized the full implications of smoking it was totally on me to quit or continue to smoke. I think that Big Tobacco started adding ingredients to cigs since I first started smoking to make it harder for a smoker to just put them down. I can't prove it and I might be completely wrong, but it just felt so much harder to go without a cigarette than when I was younger. I am very biased and not a Phillip Morris fan even though I was willingly a slave.

I stopped smoking in early February because I felt my health was deteriorating rapidly from smoking. I rolled my own smokes and smoked about 20 a day. So I got used to a lot of nicotine. But I didn't feel well.

When I did quit, I knew it was for good. This did not fare well with my system. I crashed, big time. I couldn't concentrate at work. I was miserable all the time. I didn't crave smokes but I did crave nicotine. As time went on, there seemed to be no improvement. Apparently, I had traded my mental health for physical health. Both are vital.

I ate tons of nicorette lozenges. They did little or nothing for me. Then, a post on reddit by someone who had just quit smoking caught my eye. A responder to that post had a detailed description of e-cigs along with links to an ego-t kit along with accoutrements (extra attys, tanks, batteries, juice) needed to get started. I followed his instructions. 3 days later, I had an ego-t in my hand. I quickly assembled it, with shaky hands. It puffed "smoke" (the battery had some charge to it.)

I inhaled and almost immediately all the heebie-jeebie bad stuff went away. Can this be? I took another hit. I felt even better. How had I missed these devices? I think the main thing was I had heard of them but didn't really believe they worked or something.

That was 3 weeks ago. I now have my pv the way I like it, lots of good juice on the shelf, steeping, And I'm back to my old self except that I don't hesitate to have a puff ( I always did with analogs knowing all the crap that went along with the nicotine dose).

Bottom line, I need nicotine. I need it quickly. I also need something to fiddle with and my ego-t is perfect. Especially now that I'm experimenting with dripping. I wake up, not with dread of another day without smokes. I look forward to having exactly what I need when I need it. I sneak-vape at work and seem to be able to focus much better and I get a lot more done.

E-smokes are part of my life now and I will do all I can to keep it that way.

I didn't plan either to give up cigarettes when I started vaping...but the cost of cigarettes was my main factor for trying them...I planned on just using it at work...I liked to take short smoke breaks but really didn't have the desire to smoke the whole thing...So I'd light up take a few drags and then put it out and try to save it...That never did work out very well...That is probably the best thing I like about these things....I can stop and take a couple of hits...get my fix and drop it back in my pocket and not waste anything...

Very simple, I didn't want to die. Saw someone die of lung cancer. Cigs were affecting my ability to breath, started having that sharp pain in the middle of the night upon inhaling air. Still like the act of smoking, still felt the need to smoke as a stress reliever, knew I just couldn't quit and give up this habit without it being a constant battle for me, didn't want to gain 40 pounds to 'better' my health. Vaping was the perfect win win solution.

I quit for health reasons I have been smoking for 29 years a few weeks ago during my morning work-out could not catch my breath all that day I felt like someone was sitting on my chest. Of course I continued to smoke the rest of that week. Had tried e-cigs a year ago and did not continue with them took them out of my closet and promised myself that I would quit I have been tobacco free since Feb 25th. Of course have made a couple of new purchases since then bought 2 new kits e-liquid and feeling much better. :)

My first reason was the smell on my clothes, in my house and in my car. Second feeling excluded from others because I'm a smoker and smell like one. Thirdly the cost of cigarettes and the mess of ashes. Fourth my health. Ohh and hoping to breath easier when walking. LOL

By way of background, my wife & I are long time analog users and have failed at numerous attempts to quit; using numerous methods. I was recently diagnosed with throat cancer and underwent radiation & chemotherapy. Obviously, at long last, I had to quit smoking.
The cancer is currently in remission. (Note that one can never claim he/she no longer has cancer, only that it is currently in remission. In the same vein, a former smoker can never claim to be a non-smoker; only that he/she is currently not using tobacco products).

I had been trying for years and years to quit, using just about everything under the sun. I knew all the dangers of analogs and didn't want to get any of the health problems associated with it (though even after 20+ years at 1-2 PAD I still hadn't had any discernible health impact). There is cancer all over my mom's family and my dad died of esophageal cancer due to his smoking. Even after witnessing him going through chemo and dying I still couldn't quit. So I started looking for other means to quit, found the e-cig, and have now been smoke-free for around 100 days. If you had told me when I started the e-cig that I'd go this long I would have told you that you were crazy and that I could never quit. Of course I've been proven wrong and now recommend them to anyone interested in quitting.

I have tried for years to quit :smokie: with using all the pharma brands. Obviously nothing worked. After 16 years of smoking, I was tired of the constant cough, spending excess $$$$$, and what it was doing to my overall health. Now, I have more money in the bank, no more cough, and feel just as good as I did when I was in High School. I quit the day my mega tornado stuff came in the mail :vapor:. Two weeks later, I upgraded to the Saber Touch and could not have been happier.

I saw a free e-gig ad on TV and thought, why not try it? It was a real chepo e-cig and a scam, but it worked well enough to get me thinking man, if this were a little better, it might really work. It got me doing a little research and finding a better e-cig and eventually brought me here, where I wished I would have come here first!
That would have saved me a lot of time, money and frustration, but I did it and it DOES work.

Being a slave to "man, I'm almost out. I don't feel like going but I have to make a run to get another few packs."

LOL I hated this! I would finish a pack late at night and realized I was out for morning. The thought of waking up without - even though I really didn't want to run out, out to QT I would go.

I smoked for over 20 years and never really tried to quit, I thought about it but that was as far as it went. Once trying a e-cig it was all over for analogs. Taste better, vapor doesn't linger and coat everything in my house to a nasty brown tint. My clothes and car smell like clothes and car again. Basically an overall more pleasurable experience.

My dad ordered an e-cig from a TV ad and it made me concerned. So I started looking around on-line to find something that would work for him. Turned out what he had ordered didn't even have nicotine and he's a 2PAD or more smoker. So I was trying to find something reputable for him to "try" and decided I better try it too so he would have some support. I never intended to become a vaper or ever give up my analogs. It was a complete freakish accident that I am so thankful for every day. 9 weeks analog free and today I rode my bicycle 23 miles, of course I took a couple of vaping breaks. My Dad is now thinking about buying a bicycle too. Freakin' amazing. There's no one much around me vaping so here I am.

I am in the same boat as you. I am still buying analogs but they are tasting worse with every one. It wont be long and analogs will be a thing of the past I hope. Just need to find a really good strong non bitter tastingcoffee juice in vg and I am done with analogs. Ant suggestions?

Give it time. Some people gradually quit the analogs. Sorry, I can't help regarding the juice. I'm not familiar with all VG.
