what percentages of PG/VG is best?

The best percentage is pretty much user preference. However, there are some properties to keep in mind.

* Higher VG = less dense (but smoother) throat hit.
* Higher VG = denser looking cloud of vapor.
* Higher VG = sweeter juice; PG has no taste (which is not a bad thing when flavoring agents are intended to supply all the taste).
* Higher VG makes the juice thicker, which will wick slower. How much slower, I really can't say. Slower wicking may not always be bad, as long as the atomizer can wick it efficiently. Sometimes, a tank that leaks with PG juice will work fine with a higher VG juice.
* Higher VG shortens the life of an atomizer (or of a rebuilt atomizer before it needs to be rewicked / dry burned), as gunk will cake more quickly on the coils and wick.

Some of the more common mixes are PG/VG 30/70, 50/50, 70/30.

PG/VG -- The Short Version

PG = Propylene Glycol - the "flavor carrier" of e-liquid. A secondary source of "throat hit", but not as strong as the nicotine concentration. Some people have a sensitivity or even an allergy to PG.

VG = Vegetable Glycerin - the "vapor maker" of e-liquid. Used as a sweeter in many food sources, and also as a skin emollient.

PG and VG are often used together in different ratios in e-liquid. For example, a 50/50 PG/VG ratio.

In the end (best PG/VG ratio) is all personal preference.

Everyone pretty much said it all. It's usual to start out with around 50/50 blend then adjust if needed. Remember higher percentage of vg such as 100% vg can have a tendency to shorten the life of your coils. They can gunk up quicker. Besides that like everyone has said, it's user preferences. Pg carries the flavor while vg carries the vapor. Pg also is responsible for the throat hit. So do some expirements and see which you like best.

This is a very subjective topic.

A 50pg/50vg was perfect for the longest time. Within the last few months, I have have to increase the vg ratio in my mix. Now, it appears that the pg is responsible for the hives, which I encounter, at times. As such, listen to your taste buds and more importantly, watch for any reactions that you may have.
