Hi guys,
Newbie here, first post.
I only recently got my 510 starter kit into the vaping world last friday 22/10/10 and the flavors i got just isn't cutting it. I want to place a new order but i'm unsure as to what PG/VG mix i should go for.
In my first order i got Dekang Liquid that is 70%PG and 30%VG and 11mg nic, i found that:

  1. There wasn't enough vapor for my liking (VG ?)
  2. Too much throat hit (get a dry mouth and sore throat) (PG ?)
  3. Not even remotely close to enough flavor
Based on this, would i be better off going for a 50/50 PG/VG mix or going a higher percentage with the VG for my next order ??

Please help guys, i really want this vaping to work for me and right now it's not, i keep going back to analogs at the moment cos i'm not enjoying the vape.

Yes, you could go to 50/50 pg/vg mix. VG = more vapor, PG = more throat hits.

With a lot of juices, the flavor comes out more after they have steeped for a week or so. It takes a while for the liquids to fully mix, soak, saturate, and absorb together.

Personally, I order 100% PG (when I can choose the ratio -- and I like the throat hits) and add my own VG (Glycerin from Walmart in a $3 six-ounce bottle found by the rubbing alcohol products) at about 30% Glycerin to my mixture of pre-mixed juices. I don't add more than 30% Glycerin, because then the flavor will be diluted a little.

Hi Meebo and welcome to the forum.
My first couple tries at this didn't work out to well for me either. There are several good sites mentioned around here and I'm sure they will be along shortly to help steer you in the right direction.
Don't give up. There are many options. Once you find what you like you'll never look back
Take care

Well that puts me in a little bind.
I don't like a lot of throat hit so i have to reduce the amount of PG and if there's more VG then it will dilute the flavor of which i want more of.
Hmmmm conundrum.

No, sorry, I meant when I add my own Glycerin (VG) after I receive pre-mixed liquids in the mail, the flavor could be reduced (when I add more than 30% Glycerin to the pre-mixed liquid).

If you order 50/50 or any ratio, the flavor should not be reduced. The flavor could be diluted only when you add more VG after the liquid has been pre-mixed by the supplier. I would suggest that you order 50/50 or 40/60 (PG is always the first number in the ratio...) or even more VG and less PG. You'll have to experiment to find what's right for you.

Also when you are first starting remember that tobacco has killed your tastebuds, so you won't get as much flavor as others talk about until they start to heal. If you are having trouble staying away from the analogs I would try increasing nicotine to maybe 24 mg. Maybe start with 3 ml sample sizes from FreedomSmokeUSA in different flavors, don't just stick to tobacco flavors try something like cappuccino smooth and french toast. They tend to be a little stronger flavors but try some from all groups til you find what suits you, everyone is different. Also all their samples are 24 mg and a 50/50 mix.

P.S. Vaping is dehydrating, drink lots of water, that will help with the throat problems.

Lisa B is 100% correct. Try some FLAVORS! Try doubling flavors if it doesn't seem strong enough. A lot of us (myself included) get stuck in the "it has to taste just like a cigarette" tobacco doldrums. I was so amazed at how wonderful it was to have different flavors that now I can't imagine how I was able to smoke the same boring tobacco every day, all day. Eeeewww.

Just a thought:

When I started vaping, I STARTED with DIY juice, since it let me experiment and kept me busy through the withdrawal from analogs.

DIY will let you experiment with any combination of nic/flavor/pg/vg that you want. You will then know what to order for any special flavor juice that you wish to purchase.

Just stay away from the real high nic DIY stuff until you know what you are doing and feel comfortable with DIY. Some of the vendors sell DIY kits and supplies.

Keeps ya busy too, don't miss analogs that much!

Increasing the nicotine would be a massive overkill, i am only a very light smoker (7 rollies a day was a bad day, usually 4-5 a day). I'm more addicted to the habit more so than the nicotine and after reading this post in the FAQ's regarding converting-e-cigs-regards-nicotine-content, this person was a 20-30 cig a day smoker and they calculated that they only need 9mg so based on this, my 11mg nic is already a HUUGE overkill.

Yeah i have every intention of going with the non tobacco flavors, i actually have no desire to buy any tobacco flavors.

Or the good ole bundy rum:p
