What rebuildable tank should I choose?

    I'm new to vaping and at the moment I'm happily vaping with my Nautilus (stock coils) and VTR. I'd like to get into rebuildables. I guess the next step would be to rebuild a Nautilus Coil, but it seems people say that RBA's are still better than that. But what clone / type should I get? It's so confusing. I wish there was a database where you could compare different types and models and clones. Is there a resource about different types? (without having to watch more 40min youtube videos ;))

    Is there a RBA like this:

    • Fillable from top without unscrewing tank (saves 510 connection)
    • Airflow control for easy manual adjustment like the Nautilus (Easy access and not as noisy as aerotank)
    • Bottom coil with tank system (no dripper, no long wicks)
    • Can be build with dual coil / open for experimentation
    • At least 2.5 ml tank volume
    • Stainless steel
    • Not (much) more than 50 €
    • Optional: Glass Pyrex tank to see fill status
    • Optional: Thinner than 19mm for VTR use
    • Optional: Would prefer fewer parts instead many

    The only think I've seen like this is the Ithaka Clone from ZARsmoke (looks rather easy to coil but I think it isn't refillable from the top). The Kayfun clones require screws to refil and adjust air flow. Is there something that has it all? Thanks in advance for any info.

    The 19mm diameter rules out the Kafun, which would be the obvious choice in terms of your other requirements.

    There is an Ithika clone called the Magoo (Ismoka) which looks pretty interesting. At one point I considered the Vision Eternity, which got a great review by PBusardo, not 100% sure it's less than 19mm.

    Thanks for your info, gonna check the magoo out, seems to be an Ithaka clone (whatever that means hehe)
    The reason why I'm looking for something better than the kayfun is that you have to refill and adjust the air flow with a screw driver from the bottom. I really like the ring of the nautilus.

    I guess 19 mm isn't that important because it rules too many devices out.

    I would start out practicing coil/wick builds on something simple like an IGO-L Dripping atomizer.
    This would allow you to get comfortable with minimal interference of other device parts. Simple Base/Cap design.
    Quick access to adjust or start over.
    Easy to try out new ideas/techniques.

    Shop while you learn
    Buy once you have some knowledge of the processes involved.

    Learn and enjoy! :)

    I would highly, highly recommend NOT getting the Magoo/Ithaka as your first rebuildable. There is nothing easy about those RBAs at all. Having to use NR-R-NR wire is also a huge pain in the you know what.

    I second crxess' recommendation of starting to rebuild on a dripper. RDA's like the IGO are very easy to coil and recoil, as well as wick. They are completely open for experimentation.

    As far as RBA's go, I can't recommend anything else other than the Kayfun (and I'm sure you'll get a hundred others rushing in here and saying the same thing). Needing a screwdriver to adjust airflow and to fill is a small price to pay for the experience you can get out of it. When first getting into rebuildables you really want something easy and bulletproof. The Kayfun also offers by far and away the most video content to help you out in case you run into issues.

    And of course you have resources here. Crxess just put up an easy wicking guide for the Kayfun in his/her blog.

    Thanks! The aqua looks like it fits all of my checklist! :)
    It looks like a really simple elegant design which I like. It looks like you should be able to fill it from the top also.

    I'll have to mod my VTR sooner or later, but I don't really mind that much using the extension anyway.

    Is there a website or sticky or wiki guide or something that lists all these different systems? It really seems to me that 90% of the information about vaping gear is contained inside of youtube videos lol.

    Bottom coil rebuildable; that would be kayfun style; r91; fogger; rocket; taifun;
    Think I found a few rba's on fasttech when i was looking a couple months ago that were 19mm or less but they might have been top coils;
    for some reason the rba's still come mostly in plastic tanks pmma or pc;
    Just saw a picture today where somebody mounted an r91 on the side of the vtr by cutting off the ring at the top.

    I'd check out the taifun gs, it may fill most of your wants and also possibly fit your vtr. I don't have either, so can't say for sure.
