I'm getting ready to order some single coil cartomizers for a non vv gripper and I was wondering what resistance everyone would recommend. I currently vape 50/50 pg vg and the Gripper takes a single 18350 battery. I'm guessing somewhere between 1.5 and 2.0 ohms. I know personal preference plays some part in the decision so what do you like in a similar setup?

Welcome , and either should work . That being said , if you like a bit warmer vapor , go with the 1.5 . If it's cooler you like , opt for the 2.0 . You moght even look into using some clearomizers Kanger' seem to work fairly well , and different ohm, replacement heads are available , for not a lot of money . Plus the hold more juice than a standard carto , so a win , win . You might have to pick up an Ego to 510 adapter , un less your device is already threaded for that. But those are pretty cheap as well . Good Luck

If this is a mechanical device that follows the battery voltage, then for a fresh battery 2-2.2 ohms. Once it drops down to 3.7 V then a 1.8 ohm cartomiser is good.

The use of clearomisers, especially bottom coil devices might need slightly higher resistance heads. Did you try vaping some years ago and are now giving it another try? If so you might want to investigate some of the cheap VV devices like the Ego twist and the Vision spinner, and bottom coil devices like the Evod.

Love my little Gripper for stealth vaping in the cinema. :)

You will need the XL (45mm) length cartomizers, the standard length cartos will be too short. To put any other juice delivery attachment on the Gripper, you will need the Gripper Extender, shown in the first photo below.

I use a 2.0 ohm single coil carto or drip atomizer with my Gripper. I tend to prefer a cooler vape. If you prefer a warmer vape similar to an analog, a resistance of 1.5 - 1.8 ohm might be more to your preference.

Historically, the "Normal" level for coils (this is an 'average' coil, so some are different than others) on a 3.7 volt battery setup like yours is 2.3ish - 2.5 ish ohms. That's a fairly cool vape that has a long battery life.

Also, historically, the eGo units are/were 3.4 volts (regulated).

Now the 1.5 ohm stuff was mostly used by people for the 3.4 volts e-cigs. That's not to say that people didn't use 1.5 on higher voltages, but again I'm talking averages here.

So, the 2.0 ohm stuff is what I generally use and recommend on 3.7 volt stuff. The 1.8's are OK too. The 2.3/2.5's were too cool for me.

I found that the 1.5 ohm stuff would burn certain juices at 3.7 even when dripping (like fruit flavors). This was after the initial drop in voltage from the fresh charge.

But coils vary. I find the top coil cartos to be the hottest, so would suggest above 1.5 on those even with using a drip tip when needed/possible. YMMV. :)
