What should I expect with a mech?

I've been lurking for a few months and finally doing my first post. Starting vaping 3 months ago with a MVP2 and Protank 2. Got an authentic KFL+ 2nd batch and been using it exclusively the last month while my PT2 has been collecting dust. I just placed my order for my first mechanical mod and wanted to know what I should expect in a daily routine.

I've read all about battery safety, ohm's law, etc. so I think I got that covered. But I want to know what your standard routine is. For example wake up, pop in a fresh battery, test battery a few hours later to check voltage, pop in a new battery, get home, charge batteries, clean mod, and repeat? I'm curious as to how much more maintenance time is involved since the MVP2 is a simple plug in and charge and I've been going a whole week without even having to charge it. I guess I don't vape as heavily.

I ordered a Hcigar nemesis with magnet kit, 2 purple efest 18350 batteries, and 2 Sony 18650 VTC5. I'm planning to use the 18350's as my daily batteries and the VTC5's are for dabbling with sub-ohming at home.

For $10 you can get a kick; it will give you short circuit protection and auto cutoff at 3.3 volts during the day on your 18350's; then you can subohm at home without the kick when you put in the vtc's

Sounds like you've already got the routine down lol. Nice choice on the mech and KFL+. My nemesis has been takin over by drippers lately, and now the KFL+ never seems to leave the provari. But like you that was my initial setup for a stealthy on the go vape. Recently got my hybrid adapters made for an even lower profile.

18350 nemesis, hybrid connector, KFL+ w nano kit, shorty drip tip
Not much taller than a Provari mini! Next on my list is to make some custom shorty Kayfun top caps ;)

I've also found that by sanding/polishing the internals of the switch of any manufacturer inconsistencies you'll have the smoothest switch ever, can fire it with just the edge of a finger nail.

Is this the hybrid connector?

Oh; and the nano kit is used so you use the kayfun base as a dripper, right?

The hybrid adapter is very similar to that, threaded brass ring and an oring only for the KFL+ "I made these myself"
And the nano kit is just a shorter tank section "shorter stainless rings, clear window, and chimney top" not used for dripping, kayfun still functions the same just a lot shorter.

I'll never understand why folks get 18350s and 18650s, and forget that there are also 18490/500s

Every one of these is happy as can be with the SAME 18490 battery (16 amp)

I'm running a KFL+ on a copper nemesis clone, and was running it off an MVP2 until the nemesis came. I prefer it off the nemesis with a sony vtc4 batt. Need 2 or 3 batt changes a day depending on how much I vape, but it always seems to hit harder and hotter than the MVP2, even when the MVP is turned all the way up. I am having problems with the 510 pin in the MVP sometimes not making connection once in a while, so that may have something to do with it. I don't use it much anymore, and like the performance off the mech with a 1.0 ohm coil and the truman wick method. Don't see the need for a kick, as I just build the coil to perform how I like off the mech

    My normal routine is this....

Once every day and a half or so I change the battery. Once a week, while I have the tank removed to refill it, I go ahead and remove the top cap and button and clean them off, especially the threading. I also clean off the threading in the tubes. It's not a major job, just a quick wipe-down with an alcohol wipe like you use to clean your hands with. Takes me probably 3 minutes at most. Then reassemble and back to using it.

I use a brass nemesis with a Sony VC4 and a kayfun with a 1.3ohm microcoil, well I usually carry 2 of this setup with me for backups and a 2nd flavor. When I get up in the morning I pop in a new battery and refill the tank. Through my early testing I found out that once the tank runs dry it is a good time to change the battery. I can safely run a 2nd tank off the battery but Ican defiantly feel the battery getting weaker during the 2nd tank full. It is a nice easy setup that is about as reliable as you can get IMHO. Most days I ususally only vape about half the juice in each kayfun.

I tend not to run my 18350's with my kayfun since the way I hold the mod I tend to block off the air hole with my hand. With a nano kit on the kayfun you should be able to run a full tank off a 18350 and swap it out when you refill the tank, depending on resistance. Testing this theory is recommended. I also have a couple of those hybrid connectors in the mail to test out, if they ever make it out of customs that is.

Since these were my first battery purchases I decided to go with 18350 for the smallest size and 18650 for the most safety when sub-ohming. I may consider 18490's if I need just a little more battery life to last me a day.

Right now I'm running my kayfun at 1.5ohms and a full tank lasts me a whole week. I'm guessing one 18350 should at least get me through a day before swapping.

I go fill the kayfun about 3 times a day, so almost a tank with each 18650 batt. I could go longer with each batt, but performance drops off when batt voltage reaches 3.8v or less. So I just change the batt. The lower ohm your coil, the quicker the batt will drain. Also I chain vape, and take long drags. You'll have to find out what works for you, but I would start with bigger batts first. Would you rather have a bigger mod, or a smaller one and not enough batts, or changing them often. Perhaps like the others, an 18350 is enough. I use an intellicharger to charge the batts when I'm asleep as it will trickle charge the batt and not over charge it. Lastly, when I want to sub ohm with a dual coil on a dripper, the 18650 vtc4 sony can handle anything I can build and not have to worry about safety. Over all it's just like the MVP and charging it at night except if it dies, I just pop in another batt

Yep a whole week. I've been refilling my kayfun on Sundays and it will last me all the way til the next Sunday. Based on other threads I've read on here it seems I am light vaper. I've been using 12mg nicotine and been tracking my puff count on the MVP2. I keep it on all day so the counter doesn't reset. Average puffs is 100-120 a day. I've been wondering what that equates to in analogs. If the KFL+ is 4.5mL....at 12mg nic approximately how many analogs does that equal to?

I use 18650's in my telescopic mech and nemesis. Occasionally I'll use my 350's to go stealth, but 98% of the time it's my 650's. But my routine is, I get up, grab 2 extra batteries to carry around with me. Then right before bed I will rotate the batteries with the ones on the charger, so I have a fresh battery in the morning.

I'm thinking about half pack a day. (about 10 cigs)

Basically. Instead of cutting your kayfun cotton to lay down near the channel, you leave it a bit longer and run only one side over the top of the coil down to the other side you did cut short. It would look like a figure 8 with one middle section through the coil, and the other laying over the top of the coil if that makes sense. He didn't make a thread for it, and just posted up in someone else's thread, and also posted it in the kayfun thread which is massive and hard to find. I just modified it today as I found the wick sitting on top of the coil gave great flavor, but sacrificed how quick and hot the coil would get. When my batt got lower than 3.9 volts, it just was't as satisfying due to that. What I did was leave both ends a little long, and loop them between the coil and screw. Just did it a few hours ago, and so far so good, and better.
