Hello there,

If I'm posting in the wrong area, apologies in advance.

A friend of mine recently got into "vaping"? As he calls it. I like the idea of it, but not for the popular reason (quitting).

Just quick questions that some of you vets could maybe answer; What would be an ideal set up? I've described my desires and this friend of mine suggested I reach out to this forum:

I'd like a compact set-up, with visual style in mind. Ive been told of some being key-chain sized? Also: are there other shapes available? Aside from the cylinder shape I mean.

I like lots of vapor, but not a fan of throat drag. I understand the battery is the biggest expense; I am willing to invest but I still have a certain budget in mind as well.

Please show me some set-ups you have! I'd appreciate a point to the right direction and suggestions as well. Excited to grab my own rig, this is an amazing device!

Thank you

It sounds as if you would like a mini-ego setup.

Get 350mAh eGo batteries, Smoktech shorty cartos, and include a shorty cone to make it look better. You can order these parts separately, or some places offer kits similar to the setup I describe. Here are the parts:

Battery: Black eGo Battery, 350mAh

Cartomizer: Super Shorty 1.7 Ohm 510 Black Cartomizer

Cone: Silver eGo Shorty Cone

When all put together this setup is shorter than a regular real cigarette, but is larger in diameter. It will also work very well, those shorty cartos hit like a freight train, very warm vapor.

As far as the throat hit, generally that's a result of nicotine. PG liquids provide more throat hit than VG liquids, but the most dramatic factor is the nic content. 24mg nic will give a pretty strong throat hit. 12- not so much. Obviously what constitutes strong or weak throat hit will depend on the person, but lower nicotine content generally means lower throat hit.

You say you want lots of vapor with low throat hit. I'd suggest a 100% VG liquid (VG creates a lot more vapor than PG) in the nic range of 6-12mg.

The keychain you speak of is probably the SD Keyring:

Very nifty little device. Use shorty cartos on it and it's even smaller than in those pics.

And yes, there are shapes other than cylinders. There is the Innokin Itaste that has a square battery:

I have been vaping for a year and I finally found theeeee set up that works for me a vari tube with the small vivi novas. No fuss no muss..I didn't want a lot of extra bells and whistles and I also wanted a battery bar not a number. It has been such a reliable setup..very dependable.

You mentioned different types of mods..oh my. They make mods out of just about anything. That has never been of interest to me so I don't really know much about them other than they are out there and they can get wild and crazy. You mentioned costs..yes batteries can be expensive but if you get the kind that takes 18650 or something similar in the long run it's cheaper. I don't have to spend $30.00 to replace a c twist..just 13.00 or maybe a little less to replace my 18650 batteries.

The important thing is to find what works for you. I hope you find your dream gear. I just realized you said you wanted a compact set up. Sorry about that.a vari tube and anything using an 18650 is not really compact..but it may be something you might want to consider later on.
