So… I’m in this car on a short jaunt to the Post Office and a Store.
As the Co-Pilot/Navigator, it is my Duty to select Appropriate music. After struggling to Navigate Pandora to find a decent channel, I
throw in the towel and go Old School seeing a CD Case on the backseat.
It was Very Slim Pickings for Child of the Late 60’s like me. But one CD caught my eye. “The Best of the Moody Blues – Remastered”.
OK. That will Work. And I kinda Smiled thinking about the “Best of” comments I made in this
thread as I pop the CD in. The Driver just Smirked and said something about knowing I would like a CD like that, it was her Dad’s. LOL.
So we get to the End of Nights in White Satin, and I’m ready to do the “Breath Deep” poem (Late Lament), something I've known by heart since I was about 11, and it’s NOT There. Just the London Philharmonic rising to a Final Crescendo. Strange?
But Dig This. At the Very End, after the Last Symphony Notes were played, THERE WAS NO GONG! (I must have looked like a Rube swinging my arm to hit an Air-Gong to complete silence)
I was just Shocked. No “Breath Deep” I could Almost Handle. But NO Gong?
I asked Her what was Going On? And She was like… “I’ve never heard of any “Breath Deep” poem. And there was Never a Gong at the end. I think you’re having an Acid Flashback or Something. LOL”. Then it Dawns on Me. The Remastered it OUT! And People of Her generation (She’s in Her 30’s) might not have ever heard the LP Version. Unreal.
Anyway, I sent here the LP Version the Next day. And She said that She thought it was a Better version.
And Now I’m wondering How Many people have Never Heard Nights in White Satin with Late Lament? And without the Hallmark Gong at the End?
