In my humble opinion what the Lavatube needs next is an extension cap, similar to the Provari one, that will let you use a bigger variety of batteries. Just got some Ultrfire 2800mAh and sadly they do not fit, but they will fit my Don so they will not go to waste, but the limitation on 18650 batteries, as they vary in size, is a drawback that should be addressed by those who want it, so a simple extention ring or larger cap would be a real bonus.

Im just poking fun, I like the LT. I think its a pretty good device for the price.

I'd like to get my hands on a mini in the future if for nothing else, just to have one. Im a bit of a compulsive spender when it comes to PV's.

If the LT is anything like most other imported mass produced PV's, your probably going to see several revisions and addon's soon enough. Don't quote me on it, the popularity surge just reminds me of the ego, and there are tons of different ego's out now, all with weird addons as well. Since the battery issue seems to be the biggest complaint about it so far it wouldn't be too crazy to expect some vendor or freelance modder to come out with a hollowed and/or extended cap at some point.. There seems to be a market for it.

And while we're at it, we need metal top and end caps !!!!!! Its the lava tube's weakest link.

The reason the LT is so affordable is because of the way it is built. If you start adding the metal caps and a bunch of other things to it then the price goes up and before you know it the price will be in the range of all the other high end mods.

The LT is a great VV starter for those wanting to get into it. I say leave it the way it is, "AFFORDABLE".

Indeed, but if you want metal end caps then buy an Infinity Pro or a Buzz - the price of the Lavatube has been kept down by cutting back on more expensive materials where it was feasible.

It's also that Alum and Plastic is Easier/Cheaper to manufacture than Stainless Steel.

I have one full size and two mini lavatubes, and all three work just fine, even with protected batteries there is just a small gap. I like having different PV's in different parts of the house, and at my office at work, for different tastes/needs. Like in the morning I like to go outside and have something really strong, so I have a PV in my garage setup just for that. In the kitchen I have a PV setup for something mellow. In my home office and work office I have an assortment because when you are sitting behind the computer for hours changing things up every hour or so feels good, refreshing. etc.. etc..
A lot of people here would say the provari is the best, I owned one, and sold it, it was just not my cup of tea, heavy as heck, and it didn't do anything that I want to to with my lavatubes. The mini lavatube is just way too cool, ill prob have 4 before all said and done.

Everyone calm down. l-rider is already doing most of these things. they are releasing a "new unit" in july or august i heard, no concrete details yet other then this. It will be standard 18350 with two diff caps when for 18650/ one for 18350. Also they are adding ohm checking feature. Also i might add that although i have not got this confirmed and i think it is most likely heresay atm it has been said that they are boosting amp limit to 3 amps. Also start talking about how you want a blue led screen read. It was originally blue, but changed to red to be like the Proheavy. Sorry just I am ocd, and that one button would drive me nuts. Also grab a 1.8 ohm atty, you can push it to 4.4 before protection kicks in. Look out for a guide I will be putting up on how to max out LT voltage without a voltmeter, using the less known about 7 click, hold fire click once more feature for loaded voltage of the BATTERY, not the output.
