We're both using DSE801. I've been smoke-free since 9/28 and took to vaping like a duck to water. My husband, however, is struggling in a major way. He's still chain-smoking analogs with a few puffs here and there on the 801. Half-hearted attempts at best. Something needs to change!

Since he's not a techie kinda person, and you do need to fiddle a little with the 3-piece units, I was wondering if getting a 2-piece unit with cartomizers would make it an easier transition for him?? He wants lots of vapor.

I've been looking at VaporKing and the KR808-d from nHaler. My brain is now shutting down completely and I need help in choosing something he'll hopefully stick with. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, including pros and cons of each. Thank you!!

Hi Blue. I have the 510 and still use it once in awhile. But I do have a Vapor King from V4L and it, to me, is much more user friendly. Lots of great flavors and the customer service is outstanding. I know a lot of people that were very interested in my 510 but not so much with the dripping of juice.Have had a lot more positive feedback with the VaporKing.Good luck with whatever you choose and I hope to hear that he is analog free soon! :D

All I will say, is that I have the 510, and to me, it feels like a real cigarette. Thick vapor, strong throat hit, easy to use etc.

I haven't tried any of the other ones, but I did quite a bit if research, and everything I read said this was the one model for people who want something closest to the feel of a real cigarette.

When I smoked, I was a 2 pack Marlboro a day smoker. Completely addicted and obsessed. I wasn't smoking cigarettes when I started e smoking though. Maybe he needs to just give up the cigs and jump straight into an e cigarette. Or maybe the model you have isn't right for him.

What kind of cigarettes does he smoke?

Some people say that they still think cigarettes are better than an e smoke, and that something is missing. But for me, the e cigarette is just as good as a cigarette, and in fact better.

The thing is, there is quite obsession with tobacco itself. The buying the pack, opening it up, lighting a smoke etc. That might be what is getting him stuck.

I can't speak with any personal experience with anything other than a 510.

Having said that, i would think from what you wrote that his stumbling blocks here appear to be the following:

He would enjoy an easy to use product ( I hear the VK is easy with the 2 piece design, and the folks in the vk forum here REALLY like them and say the vapor and flavor are very nice so would think it is worth consideration on those merits)

He would like lots of vapor. While vapor looks cool might this be more the feeling in the throat ( ie throat hit) and if so, perhaps a different flavor or level of Nic juice/cart used would help.

I would suggest having a talk to find out specificly what his feelings towards pv's are, if he just doesn't "get" them, they are too hard to use or fiddle with, and what specificly is lacking for them to be a serious contender in replacing ciggarettes and go from there.

It may be he just prefers analogs, but I hope this is not the case.

I like both the 901 and the kr808d-1. But if your husband wants lot of vapor and you want to try a 2 piece for him...battery and cartomizer, I would suggest a greencig. The vapor on the greencig cartomizers is AMAZING!!! A lot more than the standard kr808d-1 cartomizers IMHO. A 2 piece is a lot easier and you can refill them too! :)

I'm a 510 user and am pretty much addicted to the tons of vapor that I get off of that unit in conjunction with VG liquid. Haven't found an alternate that will knock me off of that hill.

But... that being said... when a curious on-looker expresses interest in e-cigs I rarely direct them towards the 510 model.. or any 3 piece for that matter. I always steer them toward the KR808D-1.

If they can be happy with the performance and vapor production of the KR, then they are set.

Heck.. if I hadn't become spoiled by a really well set up 510, the KR probably/possibly would have done it for me too.

A few thoughts that may help:

- Bookmark a few different models and see if he likes one more than the other. It may sound silly but appearances may be important. I don't like the looks of the 801 so never even considered it. 510 comes in some cool colors. The Kr808d may as well.

- Juice. To me this is the most important thing. At least to start with I want something that tastes and satisfies like what I'm used to. I was almost 2 packs a day and found I need 24mg. The "marlboro" flavor has a little punch to it that other flavors don't have. A little punch makes me feel like I can put it down.

- He may not really want to move away from cigarettes. I'm not sure what you can do except talk to him about what he dislikes about your 801.

I don't think of the PV as "quitting." To me it's a good way to replace some number of real cigarettes. The first few days did take some willpower on my part.

Good luck and let us know how it goes,

Started with 36 mg, stepped down to my 18 mg, back up to 36 mg. He's smoking More Lights 120. At least 2 packs/day. Chain smoker, like I was.

He doesn't like too much of a throat hit, starts coughing. Maybe because he's puffing on it more like an analog. Been trying to teach him to draw slowly instead. He does not have the patience to drip like me. My 801 produces clouds of vapor but I'm constantly filling/dripping. This won't work for him... ergo looking at 2 piece units like VK.

GeenCig does not come cheap @ $75.00 with 2 batts!
VK has starter kits on sale @ $44.95 This is a good deal.

Does anyone know if there's a difference between the reg. VK starter kit and the ones with the V logo on the batts? V logo batts are manual, maybe that's the diff.

My first thought is, did you research and order them and just got one for him, or did he express interest too? I researched for myself, ordered my stuff and got one for my husband. He tried it and liked it, but it wasn't working for him (510). He tried a 901 that I was using and liked it better, so I set him up with one of his own, still not using it. I've now been vaping since the beginning of July, totally smoke free for 5 weeks, and guess what; he's still smoking. If I were you, I'd give him the recommendations that you've gotten and let him research and decide for himself what he wants to do. Just because we think they are so great, doesn't mean that your husband will be as excited as you and he may just not be quite ready. Hopefully he'll come around in his own time (and mine too!).

I ordered a 801 starter kit for myself first. I was the guinea pig if you will. He tried it and wanted one. Got his 2 weeks later and you know the rest of the story.

I just got a 401 kit w/extra attys from heaven gifts today. I like to try different styles myself. I'll let him try those to see if he likes the smaller unit better. Pen styles are kinda large. Then we'll probably try a VK.

Someone said Vapor4LifeK has Greencigs but I don't see it. Maybe they call it something else? Duh... My brain is really fried at this point.

I am going thru this with my hubby too. We started out on the 901 and he just didnt take to it. I ordered a 510 for myself, and then for him. He still really didnt take to it well. I ordered some of the Nhaler lung juice and got him going on that and I think he is finally headed in the right direction. I don't nag at him over it. I make "suggestions" He takes suggestions much better than advice.

No offense men, but men and women really do think differently and you all really don't like us to tell you what to do. You like it when it seems like it is your idea more than ours.

.

In the end, a person can only change themselves. Your husband doesn't sound like he cares, and I wouldn't force him to.

Dripping is easy. If you don't have the patience to drip, then you don't have the patience to do anything. How hard is it to pull a cart out, take your dropper, and drip a couple on the atomizer? I mean, I just started doing it today. Takes me about two seconds to do it.

I don't think any model is going to satisfy your husband.

You're so right, Giantfan. I think it's a head thing. But we'll give a VK a try and see where it goes. Maybe those will work for him as they are easiere to deal with and the size is more like an analog. I personally think vaping comes real close to smoking analogs and I'm as happy as a pig in you-know-what. He's wasted $$ on hypnosis and all kinds of BS that didn't work. <sigh>
