What to expect in the coming weeks...?

This is day 7 for me...

The last few days I feel like i'm caught up in a fake cold if that makes sense. Is this normal? I feel fine otherwise, but sniffles, sneezing a little more, coughing of course. Been taking a little robitussun DM for the expectorant to see if it helps clear the lungs, putting a little steam through the lungs as well. Sometimes it feels like i'm walking around a damp sauna.

Found my gums getting a little senstive as well, been licking them more but from what i'm reading, that's normal as well.

What else will be normal or expected?

It varies hugely from person to person, so hard to say.

It sounds like you're not doing too badly - I had whole body shivering, nausea, headaches, insomnia, inability to eat, 'quitter's flu', the whole shebang, and I was over most of it by two weeks.

I *suspect* physiologically you're at the worst of it, and in another week you'll be getting better. For some people mood starts to deteriorate, and if that proves to be an issue for you it may be wise to consider WTA or snus, either permanently or just as a temporary thing to smooth over the transition.

Good luck, and hang in there :)

What you are going through sounds a lot like what I went through. Fight through it, you'll be fine. I also got some nosebleeds at about the time you are at. (I have always been prone to them) My sinuses dried out and caused it (hasn't happened in weeks now). 2 months in now and I still have some congestion as my lungs I suspect are trying to clean themselves out of 17 years of smoke.
It may get a little worse than it is now, but it will get better, much better.
Good Luck!

Mood is totally fine oddly enough, on anything else I would have been homocidal after a couple of days. I'm not edgy or anything, it's weird, having none of the usual withdrawl effects. Just physically feeling like i'm into a fake cold.

I do feel like i'm waiting for the other shoe to drop tho, this has been too easy...

in most cases this is the body finally getting a chance to reset itself and detox while starting to reject all those nasties we inhaled everyday and it's not sure what to do about it., while i know the sore gums may sometimes be related to switching over, i found I get it from certain delivery devices more then others. with one specific atomizer actually making my teeth hurt.

we have to remember while nic is always seen as the culprit there are actually dozens of chemicals the body becomes dependent on in smoke.

It can be that easy, lol. Some walk around in a daze, like " I guess I don't smoke anymore".

I had a minor cold - could have been viral, could have been otherwise - like you describe. Went away. I had sore gums in various (changing) spots, rinsed with 50/50 peroxide & water, went away after two weeks or so. My gums also bled, not the little pink-tinged spit but pretty bright red, didn't start until the fourth week or so, went away in about two weeks. So, a variety of things. But I have not coughed, which suprised me; after all these decades I expected to cough my lungs out as they "cleared." Maybe I still will, but two months in and it hasn't happened yet! :)

I never coughed up a lung either. But I did cough up a lung when I got bronchitis every year, which I haven't had in over a year now :D

I really think that I coughed up so much those times, there wasn't a whole lot of junk in there to cough up. I really expected a cough to rival that bronchitis cough, which never happened.

That's how it was with me too. None of the side affects I experienced with patch/gum/wellbutrin and I was dreading 'the other shoe to drop' as well. The only thing that caught me off guard was my sense of taste. I went through a period when everything tasted salty, then it was sweet. It went away after about 10 days but it's back again now, at least it's not as pronounced. Hang in there, it REALLY can be this easy!

Glad i'm not alone in the "other shoe" category... See what happens in the coming weeks, should be interesting. So far, it's been surprising how fast the body changes to adapt - looking forward to more.

    Thanks everyone.

I had zero negative side effects. It's been a very easy transition for me. I love having my sense of taste back. I've even found that my ears have become less problematic. I have a bad cold right now and even that isn't as awful as it used to be....for once my chest doesn't feel like it's going to cave in!

The only side effects I experienced (after 43 years PAD) is:
remembering where I sat my vape
where those spare analogs were stashed so I could give them to someone who thought I was doing them a favor. Just so I could feel good about myself I also gave them a starter kit for vaping.
Beyond that I haven't missed a lick, or missed a stinky

I have had that fake cold feeling on and off for a couple of months, just never seems to come. I had my acl redone 2 months ago and
Had a bad shoulder injury before that, so I haven't exercised in almost 7 months. Today I rode a stationary bike for 6'miles in 25 min. In the past I would have had a hard time breathing from such a long lay off. Today no problems at all, Looking forward to riding again. So you have that to look forward to.

I'm actually excited to get back on my bike. I've been an avid cyclist for years and always smoked! As we're having 50 degree days in January in Nebraska and I've been itching to ride again! I'm excited to see how my stamina will change but I can't bear to take the studded tires off my winter commuter bike just yet.

I'm 2 weeks into this, after smoking for 40 plus years, and that describes me. I still keep telling my husband, I really can't quite believe I'm not smoking, and that I don't even want to. Not a bit!

I haven't coughed at all. In fact, I've stopped coughing. It used to be especially bad when I first woke up. Now, I get up, have my coffee with my trusty ego in hand, and don't cough. Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

No physical symptoms, and no mood swings. And no cigarettes! It can't get any better.:)
