What unexpected (neat) things have you seen vendors do

So, I placed an order yesterday from a new vendor (shameless plug, it's stuff I'll be reviewing soon ) Along with a shipping e-mail I got a second e-mail. This one had a picture of my order to show me what was on the way. As simple as that is I thought it was pretty cool and hadn't seen anyone do that before.

I thought I'd ask you all, are there any unexpected touches a vendor added to your orders that surprised you (hopefully in a good way).

I got a free drip-tip/mouthpiece thrown in with my order once. The vendor must have been 99 percent certain that I wasn't going to be happy with the rubber nipples that were included on the 5 metal-tube dual-coil cartomizers that I had ordered. He was right; I threw all those flat-tip rubber nipples away.

One of the vendors I use always includes a personalized note. Many include handwritten "Thank you" notes but these have an almost pen-palish feel to them. Added to their always included free juice samples, it's a silly little pick-me-up that I enjoy.

Pink spot vapors always gives a free sample of juice with every order and Sandie writes a nice hello/thank you note on your packaged invoice. I find them to be very cool vendors.

I like the little notes. Sometimes I like to make little jokes on the order comments or something to see what sort of a response I can get on the invoice

I don't know if they still do, but when I was ordering from house of vapor they would always use poly-fill as the packing material so you could restuff your carts with it. Granted that was in 2009 when almost everyone was using carts, but at the time it was really helpful and saved me alot of money on new cats.

I've had nice thank you notes and candy, as well as free juice or drip tips. Always brings a smile and makes me feel special (I'm a complicated simple girl). The most unique thing, at least to me, was the use of real popcorn as packing material. My dog LOVED that package!!

Vermillion River usually gives me a 3ml dripper bottle with most orders..and sent me a 4ml sampler of their new Kentucky ammaretto! I got addicted to that stuff real quick lol!

Rawr gives out 5ml samples with every order. I've always gotten something different. I placed an order from Parkes Vaping and in the order comment section I just asked "Juice sample?" on the off-hand that I'd get lucky. Well, my order came and they included four 6ml samples of juice. 24ml of free juice on top of only a $30 order? Yes, please. I've been a consistent customer ever since.

I like the little handwritten notes and freebies, but my favorite thing is what Mrs T's Bakery does...
She uses real popcorn to package her shipments, and tosses in a few pieces of candy.

And I think that is really, really neat.

To be discreet I won't mention the vendor. Once I wanted to order a 30 ml bottle of my favorite juice but the vendor listed it as unavailable on their website due to a lack of ingredients, so I ordered a couple others from their site that I had wanted to try.

When the package arrived, everything I had ordered was there plus a bonus 18 ml bottle of my favorite juice that they had claimed was unavailable when I placed the order. I came away a confused but happy customer.

I also buy juice from Mt. Baker Vapor and they've included a 15 ml bottle as a free sample in every order I've gotten from them. I've never tossed the freebees they are always good.

I like the way Vaperite lets you choose a sample with every bottle. It makes it easy to try new flavors where you wouldn't risk a full bottle. It encourages me to order an extra bottle for another sample. Free samples chosen by the vendor usually never yield flavors I enjoy.


I hate reading on here that others have gotten samples or freebies from vendors I have used extensively without getting any. Fairness is a touch I appreciate from a vendor.

No grief, when I as a regular customer with no priors have a problem with a product. It wins me over forever as a customer. So respect is another nice touch.

I've heard of others photographing orders. They do it for their protection if you say something didn't ship. Electronics companies do it a lot. It is unusual for them to share it with the customer. Kudos to them.

Love Mt Baker Vapors freebie juice that James includes with every order, Bluemist Vaping does the same. I've also received a free gift of juice from EC Blend, however I believe that is random and they don't do that with every order. I do love the handwritten thankyou's on the invoices, and the occasional followup email asking how I liked the products and customer service.

I, too, like the notes and have actually taken to doing that at my job as well since I am in charge of shipping and receiving. Free samples are always great, especially when they are at the same nic level as your order, and I've found some new faves that way.

The one that popped right to mind, though, was the way Ms. T's Bakery packs their orders. You always get a piece of candy (gum or a dum-dum pop) and she packs in popcorn. I like the idea of using popcorn because it is a great idea if there's an accident and the stuff spills in water or something... it's just food and won't hurt any animals. But it always skeeves me out a little bit, too. LOL! There are kernels all over everything and really... stale popcorn that just got shipped naked through the mail. I'm a bit weird about things like that and do my best not to touch it. LOL!

Mt Baker sends the freebies with orders over $15. Maybe other vendors have similar criteria?
