So I have wanted to open a thread like this for awhile. Just to give you all a little story on how I got started here and how much V4L has helped me switch from analogs to vaping. This is pretty long so I'll break it up into parts but it’ll give you a lot of insight into who I am. (And feel free to tell us what we’e done for you too!)

Like I mentioned before, I started at V4L as an intern with Audrey last summer. My habit though, that started in high school. I picked up analogs from a buddy of mine who literally started when he was 11 or 12. I always asked why he did it to get some insight. I knew all the stats and I had heard it all before about the dangers and why you shouldn’t start smoking. But I saw how it made him feel when he was stressed so I naturally followed in his footsteps

It started the night I found out my longtime high school girlfriend had cheated on me with one of my neighbors, a kid I grew up with. This was also senior year of high school, so applying to colleges, trying to make grades, keeping up with friendships that might dissolve.. It was all so stressful. I was really out of my mind and had no idea how to get back to simpler times. Instead of embracing the major changes in my life, I chose to pick up an analog, a vice, and handle my problems that way...

At first it started when I was stressed. So I would only smoke occasionally. 2-5 a day turned into 2-5 every couple hours. I really don’t know what happened but there were times where I’d smoke half a pack in one sitting just because I had nothing else to do. Of course going out, grabbing food, driving, hanging with friends. Wherever I went, I always had a pack. I knew it was bad when I had fallen on hard times and I was debating whether or not to get food or buy a pack.

The height of my smoking came in college. I was buying a carton a week and would intentionally take two packs with me to campus because I knew I would smoke at least a pack and didn’t want to buy another. That’s how strong my urge was. If I ever ran out I would walk up to strangers and offer to buy an analog from someone sometimes for $2.00. Looking back, I was a drug fiend. It wasn’t until I met my current girlfriend that I wanted to make a switch.

I tried a bunch of alternatives to analogs. Patches. Gum. Prescriptions. It would work for awhile and I would always relapse. I once had too much nic because I forgot I had a patch on and picked up a few analogs (all chained smoked) and I felt awful after. I felt physically sick. Even that didn’t stop me. Thankfully I had Vanessa (the gf). She was really supportive throughout it all and she helped keep me on track even though it didn’t look too promising.

Last summer while looking for alternatives, I was also looking for a new job :). I applied for several internships and got a few calls but the first call back ended up being at V4L. Before I even started I had no idea who V4L was or what they did. My first day, I was craving an analog like none other. I was really nervous so as the stress level rose my craving increased....and then they told me what they did. When I heard “electronic cigarette company”, I was like “cool”. I thought, “I’ll try this with my first paycheck”. But surprise surprise, they let me try everything from the start. Everyone here actually encouraged it. I told them my struggle and they gave me everything and more that I would need to switch. My first cart was a Parliament 11mg. It wasn’t doing it for me at first. So I keep trying several flavors...and it’s starting to grow on me. I was using the ecig and I thought “I feel like I’m cheating”. The sensation was eerily close to the experience I had with analogs. I think that is what helped me the most. I never understood why I had such trouble switching before, but Steve said it best, it’s the experience that I was missing. It was so much more than the nicotine. I was addicted to the experience.

Now I thank Steve and V4L for not only taking a chance on me as an employee, but also helping me improve myself and my lifestyle. I’m a big guy and had some heart problems before. I went to visit my cardiologist, he says I’m doing great. I’m breathing better and I have more energy. I’m more active which I appreciate so much more. And of course Vanessa loves it too. Seeing her smile after we kiss is the best feeling in the world, especially because before she hated kissing an “ashtray”.

So that’s my story. I didn’t want to make it too long :)

Awesome BHam! As a person of a 'certain age' smoking was accepted, everyone did it, cars, houses, etc. Hell, Doctors were doing commericials on TV touting the 'healthiest' brand.
Smoking is still legal, though most of the time you do feel like a 'drug fiend'. Ecigs, for me at least, is how i felt when cordless phones came out and i was allowed to wear jeans in High School, freakin awesome!
So vape on and keep feeling good!
