If you dig around a bit here you will find a chart that lists the voltage/wattage ranges for a given atty's resistance. But a good rule of thumb is.. Volts: add 1.8-2 to your resistance for a starting point (2.0 Ohms, add 2. Watts: start between 7-8 watts as a starting point. With both methods, adjust to taste.. Up or down in small increments.
I prefer variable wattage. I set mine at 8.5 watts and let the chip handle adjusting the voltage for which ever atty i'm using at the time. Set it and forget it!! Ronco-style!
best is a matter of preferance, what you will want to do is start out at the lowest setting. then take a couple puffs, go up to the next setting take a couple more puffs and repeat until you find what you like the best. My wife likes 6-7 watts, I like 20-25 watts so there is no one size fits all.
