If anyone would like to share I'd like to hear some uplifting stories about personal experieces helping someone else. So much these days is all about negativity. It be nice to hear some of "The Good" we all have inside of us.

I'll go first.

About five years ago I was driving to work when I saw a car pulled off to the shoulder of the road. As I passed I noticed a man sitting on the grass clutching his chest. I realized this was not a normal thing to see so I made a u-turn and went back to him. I pulled over and got out of my vehicle and asked if he was ok? He just looked at me with wory in his eyes. Since he was clutching his chest I asked him if he thought he might be having a heart attack? He finally said "maybe." I convinced him to get in my truck and proceeded to take him to a nearby hospital's ER. Once we got there I left my name and contact info with the nurse and that was that. The next day the man called me (while still in the hospital) to thank me for saving his life.

That's always been something I feel good about.

Any similar type stories? Stories that make you feel good about yourself and how you may have made an impact on someone's life?

I don't really like touting good deeds but maybe it'll inspire others. I've stopped a lot and given women rides esp if they've broke down with their kids. If it's a man I'll ask if they have a number I can call for them. Given food several times when I know someones lost a job or had unexpected problems come up. I'm always glad to do what I can when I know someone needs it.

As a psychotherapist I hope I have done a lot of good things for people.

But, the most life changing thing I have ever done for anyone started when my neighbors daughter, my daughters' friend, came to me about her father molesting her and her 3 sisters. My own daughter had been molested by her step father, so she felt it was safe to come talk to me. My daughter came to me one day, and her step father was out the door the next.

I first suggested she tell her mother what was going on. I offered to go with her, but she felt she could do it on her own. Her mother did not care!!! She did not want to discuss the subject and she was never to mention it again. In my opinion the mother was just as culpable as the father was now. Being in the same circumstances at one time, I cannot comprehend how this mother could bear to have him around.

I next suggested she talk to a school councilor or school nurse, which she did. If this did not help I was going to report the parents myself. Child protective services came to the home and questioned the girls. They all admitted that their father had done things to them during the night. The youngest was only 3 years old. He was removed from the home for a mere 3 months. During this time the mother kicked her daughter out of her home for telling on her father. She was only 14. I took her into my home.

3 months later the father returned to the home. (How the hell this ever happened I will never know) The only requirement was the girls were to put pad locks on the inside of their bedroom doors. To this very day one of the girls still lives there with her own daughter. Very possible the father is the daughters father.

I am happy to say that the girl that stayed with us went to counseling and is now happily married with 2 children of her own. I wish I could have helped all 4 of the girls, but when Child Protective Services wouldn't even help my hands were tied.

On my way home from playing volleyball one night (probably about 11:30pm) in wilmington. I saw a guy in the middle of the road with his blinkers on because he was out of gas. No one would stop to help him. I stopped and he put me in the drivers seat and as soon as I asked for help...next thing you know there are three guys pushing the car. We got his car out of the middle of the street. I drove him to the gas station and bought a gas can and a gallon of gas so he could get home (he ran out of gas cause he couldn't afford to buy any). This was not in a good neighborhood and thinking back I must have been crazy to stop there, but sometimes you go with your gut.
