Mine was a Tsunami eGo style e-cigarette I picked up in a starter kit at a gas station for around $35.

It wasn't terrible BUT I've since upgraded a few times.

Currently, I'm using a 30W iStick mod w/ an Aspire mini Nautilus tank w/ a 3" chrome drip tip.

What am I vaping on at the moment? SPLASH from Avail Vapor which is Blackberry Lemonade.

I also have an iTaste SVD Variable Voltage mod that I ran with a Kanger Pro tank 2 and a Kanger mini.

What did you guys start with and what are you using now? (I hope you didn't start with a cheap disposable haha)

the original Blu kit,it was the worst device ever, tho it did introduce me to vaping so i guess it wasn't all bad.think i could get about 5-6 hits off it before it would die and need charging and need a refill....would leak in my mouth all the time from having to hit it so hard to get anything out of it,i tell you i was happy to get ripped off for $140 for an ego kit back then when they came out lol, at least those kinda worked even with there crummy expensive atomizers that would clog every few hours.

I smoked marlboro full flavor for 36+ yrs, 1 to 1.5 ppd. couldn't quit the cravings til I went to 24mg. I would suggest they get one or two flavors they like to start. Get a bottle of 24 and a bottle of 12 in the same flavo. They can mix them 50/50 to get 18mg, that way they can try various levels 24, 18, 12 etc to see what works for them. They could even get one about 70pg and one that is around 70 vg that way they can determine whether they like more pg or more vg or an even mix of the two.

If you met someone that smoked a pack of cigarettes a day, what would be an appropriate nicotine level for them to start out?

I was thinking 12mg is a pretty fail proof range to start with but I could be wrong. What do you guys think and why?

Depends WHAT kind of cig they were smoking. I over-nic'ed a friend starting out......she failed to tell me she smoked ultra lights. Made her pretty dizzy and nauseous

I smoked a pack a day when I started everyone said 18mg. I was sort of unwell for the first few weeks, jumpy and anxious. til i went over my smoking habits with an ECF member in PMs.......and it turned out I should only be using 14mg or so. As soon as I lowered it the anxiety went away.

24 would have knocked me on my .....

I think everyone is different, AND it also depends on what gear they will be using!!!!! 24mg with some of these new PV and tanks will be pretty strong!

Not sure what is best since everyone is so different but based on my own experience:

I smoked full flavoured cigarettes, 2 packs a day for 20 years.
I started at 18mg without any issue. I did quit smoking same day I started vaping and haven't had another analog since so that seemed to be the magic number for me. However, month later I dropped the level down to 12mg and continues to works great, but feel if I had started at that probably would not have been as effective.

I do believe what you are smoking before starting to vape plays a big part on what to start with. Someone who doesn't smoke often (less then a pack a day) or light/ultra light cigarettes may find 18mg or above to be too much. The same for heavy smokers (pack a day or more) who start too low, won't be satisifed.
