My first was a Green Smart Living kit for $20 at the corner store. It has two batteries, two pre-filled carts, and a charger. Tho they claim that each carto is the same as a pack of smokes, I had already figured that was BS. The flavor wasn't too bad. Of course, now that I've had better I'm sure it would taste awful to me now. lol

I didn't get that thing to quit. It was to try so I could go on vacation at a non smoking resort.

Good as place as any to get 1/5 newbie post in :toast:

I had to travel to Australia in the September of 2009. I used the trip as an opportunity to quit smoking. I brought a carton of Camel Lights with me and finished them during the 1st week of the three week stay. Then I went cold turkey for the remaining 2 weeks and the month upon my return, including the time of my Dads funeral.

I realized that I was miserable and was going to relapse, so in desperation I drove to a Love's Truck stop and bought a "51" (I think) box kit for 50-60 bucks. They were weak and I got a lot of 'juice' in mouth and figured that must be the bulk of the nicotine delivery system lol. Since that time I tried Blu's, Cig2O, Metro and a bunch of other truck stop types.

My favorite of these was Mystic, which I enjoyed but they were inconsistent flavor, strength and 'effect'. I liked them a lot because I could find cigs, chargers and refills at just about any TA truckstop, Loves, Pilot or Flying J. Then they got very erratic, the stores would be completely out of the regular (red) refills and then out of the mediums (yellow). Finally I just couldn't find them period and some truck store cashier said that they were getting a new type because of problems with the supplier.

I so enjoyed vaping I needed to find a better solution. I had heard of 'nic juice' and used that as a key word search, however I wanted to find a local kiosk or shop so that if I need something I could pick it up locally and not have to wait for something to ship from an internet provider.

I ended up purchasing a "Tornado Twister" from a TKO/Knockout Vapor/etc kiosk at a mall. I know that many of these 'rigs' are very similar and that there are a few key differentiators that I'm learning about but I saw some good reviews for TKO products so I purchased the rig and 4 different Liquids.

I have been VERY happy with this rig compared to the Mystics. I kicked myself in the ... for not buying one 2 years ago when I started. Not sure why i didn't, I think it was some fear of smoking from a 'contraption' with lots of messy liquids and maintenance. Additionally, when I read a few online post from here and other places, frankly it sounded complicated to deal with...cartomizer ohms readers, chinese metric and sae thread counts and proprietary chargers etc...just turned me off to it honestly.

So here I sit vaping on my contraption, I do want a tether of some kind as I find it easy to drop. I'll check here for some ideas.

Thanks for all the wonderful technical and personal information here. Looks like a great resource :)

My first vape was January 17th (just 12 days ago). I had been tossing around quitting smoking (again) after some very heart wrenching family experiences over the last through months within our family. My hair dresser had one when I got my hair done a few days before and told me about how she quit the day she bought her e-cig. We have an awesome store here in town, so that week I went in and bought the ego-t starter kit. I had 5 analogs left that night and when I finished them I was done! This has been the easiest quit I have ever experienced! I use the ego-t with the clearomizers. My fave flavors are anything coffee and the cinnamon bomb (tastes like big red).

My first ever kit was an nJoy kit from a gas station. This was back when vaping was new, and it peaked my interests. Looking back, it was the worst $60 I ever spent. All it did was burn the carto and leak juice from the mouthpiece. It's kinda crazy how far it's come since then...

Regardless, glad I've given it another shot. The stuff on the market today is pretty amazing compared to 3+ years ago.

I tried the njoy cigarette lookalikes back in December. They worked, but tasted awful. I do thank them for being an easy and cheap way to test the vaping experience, because then I found the forums here and went right to the Provari mini and a bunch of sample packs from HHV, mom and pops, and now AIV. I found an all day vape or two, but I hope they hold me and I don't tire of them.

I'd heard about ecigs but really didn't know anything about them except that they could be used instead of smoking. Back in November I was heading to Amtrak to catch a train and stopped in to my local tobacco shop to say hi and just happened to ask the owner what he knew about ecigs. He stated that he had some disposables in stock and I could try one if I wanted to see what it was like without investing in a starter kit.

Well, being very addicted to smoking and not looking forward to 3 1/2 hours on a train with no smoking I bought one and headed to catch my train. As I was on the train I took frequent breaks to get up and go stand by the exit door and vape. As we were pulling into my destination city it dawned on me that I was not desperately craving a cigarette like I normally do after making this trip. At that point I knew I'd stumbled upon something that was going to change my life for the better by making me healthier and also allowing me to travel without having to fear nicotine withdrawal the whole way.

I immediately started researching ecigs and within 36 hours I had my first kit ordered and was on my way to becoming smoke free about 2 1/2 weeks later!

I started with a ego-t battery/ce4/usb charger blister pack. It was a cheap "toe in the water" kit. I never planned on it being my main setup but I didn't want to shell out a lot of money if it wasn't going to work for me. I used it for a couple days when I bought the ultimate starter kit from canvape. Now I am just enjoying myself while trying out a number of juices (already have found a couple I like, a few I didn't like and a very long list of "still to try").

Mine was a joyetech 510. That was when it first came out and luckily I missed the mall e-cig junk. However the smoke anywhere was the first e-cig I had ever seen. I remember when mods where considered changing the filler material in the cartridges. Does anyone else remember cutting up pyramid tea filters? lol its was only about 4 years ago but its seems like old school first generation stuff now.

I was able to quit using the small little joye tech but I had 4 batteries and a PCC. I always mention cignot.com cause that is where I used to order everything from, before my local b&m opened up. Moved to ego's when they first came out and they rocked!

my first one was Joyetech eGo c twist. It has been 2 months switching from kanger T3 to Vivi Nova. Now I upgraded to a '69' Mod by Atmomixani with a carto tank which I recently purchased from VAPEREV. So far It's probably the best thing I've held in my hand, but there's a little problem with the firing button which sometimes seems odd and wont fire consistently. I am going back to VapeRev to have them fix the problem. Since I emailed them and no respond, I guess they are pretty busy with the shop and online stuff. I just had it for less than 3 days. back to my eGo for now until problem solve. nice to meet all of you guys. thanks for the feed back. I am completely new to this and hoping to learn and teach one another as a vaper.

Just before Christmas last year I picked up a $12 disposable from the local tobacco shop. I have no idea what possessed me to do that, but I realized that e-cigs could help me stop smoking. I picked up a $100 cig-alike kit at the mall and the menthol cartos were awesome, but expensive! I now have an eGo Twist, some clearos, some cartos, a Vivi Nova and I mix my own juice still in search of the perfect menthol.

It is over a month later and I have gone from 1 1/2 - 2 PAD to 0 analogs.
