Almost ready to buy the Joy ego and supplies, I have looked at it over the past 24 hours since posting yesterday (tyhanks everyone). Looks like everyone is happy with it.......and I think it would be right for me...

But

What would be the next step up from this type though?
Just wanted to make sure before my initial investment....

Thx

Mike

mods :). The Ali'i is a thing of beauty.

Agreed, mod's are the next step, but the eGo is a good unit and you'll likely be happy with it. About the only mass produced mod is the 905, I think. Also known as the Screwdriver for obvious reasons when you see it DSE-905 Vaporizer. It's about the same price as an eGo starter kit but uses 900mah 14500 batt's that are a lot cheaper. You can find batt's for $4.29 or so at Li-Ion Batteries.

A 3.7 mod would be the next step up and if you plan using LR Atomizers I would recommend them over the Ego. Some have had issues with the Ego/Riva types with LR Attys and the stress they put on them.

3.7 Mods don't have to be expensive, you can get a basic box mod for around $25 plus batteries, charger, etc. Madvapes has the RoughStack mod in a kit that comes with everything you'd need. It's a little more expensive than the Ego kits but you'll save money on replacing the battery in the future.

Yours is an intelligent approach to a purchase, Mike.

As others have pointed out, the next step up for reasons of less expensive battery replacement and a truer 3.7 volt experience is indeed a mod.

BUT... there are times when you just won't want to pull a mod out of your pocket. There are times when you will want to be discreet with your vaping. For those reasons I would suggest you go ahead with the eGo/Riva/Tornado (etc, etc, etc). There are some steals of deals out there too that makes the eGo/Riva an inexpensive introduction and a slam dunk decision.

Check out Liberty Flights and their ridiculous $29.99 Riva kit. I've bought 4 or 5 eGo kits at twice that price. I recently bought the Riva and it is performing well.

Instead of the extra dollars between the eGo and a mod, utilize that money to purchase extra attys and liquids. Chances are that eventually you will move up to a mod for special circumstances but the eGo will always be useful. I *wish* that I could have entered into this 1.5 years ago with an e-cig such as the eGo, btw. It just didn't exist. 'Tis your gain/advantage.

Good luck to you.

i would not waste money on a mod when you can just get a high voltage passthough but i guess it depends on your needs. i vape from my wall or my car im set with a 15 dollar passthough....of course you could always build your ownb high voltage mod dirt cheap also...or just get that ego and screw on a LR atty to simulate higher vaping....either way it will be about the same result

I'm not a passthrough fan because most of them are so poorly made that they don't hold up well.

But the next step up is definitely a good 5 volt mod PV. I would suggest either the GLV or one of Ken's Box Mods at 5 volts. There are other good 5 volt mods, also. The ability to have consistently good TH for up to 10 hours with batteries that only cost $2.50 is a great advantage. I would check out these sites:

Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

Box Mods

Zoom over to Liberty Flights.
They had a few of the eGo kits left for $40. Use the code ECF for the 20% off. (2) batts (2) attys (2) cones, charged etc.

I have ordered from them before (actually ordered one last night, too) and they are top notch products and customer service.

I was one of the first to purchase the Janty eGo in North America, after having used the 510 for several months. The eGo is a very reliable PV, it holds it’s battery power to the very end, and charging is quick. The other advantage is the myriad of options one can use on the eGo, from different attys, to impressive line of cartos, and drip tips.

I'm receiving my Ali'i mod in a few days. I've always wanted a bottom feeding mod, and the reviews are outstanding. It's the type of mod that doesn't look like a cylinder tube, in fact, it's retro in my opinion.

That being said, I currently own 4 eGo's (3 standard size and one mega ), and I will continue to use them, especially when trying new flavors, or experimenting w/my own DIY juices or when a black tie affair is called for…the eGo is very sexy all in black…lol

I realize their are some vapeheads that have every imaginable mod in their collection...and that's cool. But my choice is to have one reliable/portable/sexy/adaptable PV, the eGo...and one cool/warm/retro/bottom feeding work of PV art...the Ali'i.

just an opinion of course....
