Hi all! this is my very first post. I have some questions....and I think I have read too much, because Im confused or overloaded by all of the info I have read! I make my mind up....then I change it--seems to be the normal for newbies!!

Here's my questions......

*If I smoke 1 1/2 packs per day, for 1 week, how much would vaping cost me?

Im looking at the Vapor King (extra long, with long life battery)

*I want to fill my own cartridges....

*So....I would love to have some input on how much it would cost me versus an Analog cig.

*How long would a 10 ml bottle last? Do I need to buy filled cartridges too--or blank ones and fill them?

Also...most of them come with 5 cartridges....how long would those even *last me? So many questions!!!

I appreciate any help I can get from you veterans out there! I am anxious to begin this....

have a very blessed day!

After the initial investment of the kit I tell people 15-30 bucks a month, juice and cartos will be about all you need to order and cartos might last you awhile. I smoked about 1.5 packs a day and I use about 30 ml of juice a month.
But the flavor of carto to match the juice or buy blanks. Depends on what kind of juice you decide on.

A few of my friends have been asking the same questions - these are my calculations:

For one year of vaping, if you are paying retail markup on KR808 supplies:
1 Starter kit: $60
1 extra battery (2 works, 3 is cruicial): $15
= $75

You will already have 5 or 6 cartridges from the starter kit. You will probably burn at least 2 of them up initially, but I make a pack of cartomizers last about a month by refilling - let's aim high and say you manage to burn through 100 carts a year - that is 20 packs of carts at about $11 each
= $220

For juice, let's say you are going with an expensive US manufacturer charging $20/30mL bottle. I go through about 2-3mL a day so a bottle lasts about half a month - so that is about 24 bottles a year.
= $480

Total = $775/yr (Definitely on the high end of the estimates)

A pack of smokes a day @ $5/pk = $1825/yr
Net savings: $1050 in your first year.

thanks for all of the wonderful info! I currently smoke full-flavor analogs. So I know without a doubt that I want to start out with the highest nicotine strength. Does that help? knowing that info, is there a huge difference in what I would need? (im a pretty heavy smoker.....that's why I need to quit, and this is how Im going to get it done!)

so much help! I am glad to find you guys!

    thank you!!

These are hard questions because it's all going to depend on how much you vape and how many supplies you're going through. In the beginning, you'll vape more often than you smoked...or at least that's what most of us have done. I only smoked 10 cigarettes a day, but I burn through around 2ml (on average) of liquid a day. I use cartomizers, I can easily use two a day (and somedays I use 3-the big 510's that hold about 1ml each). At $10 per pack of 5 pre-filled, then re-filling each one myself several times, I can spend around $45 or $50 a month on vaping. That's cartomizers, liquid and shipping. The best thing to do is get yourself set up with a few batteries, cartomizers and liquid and STOP...there is so much out there, if you start trying out everything available, the spending will never end. :)

so do you think it would take at least 30 ml's a month? thanks!

If you smoke it like a real cigarette (ie, go outside, take 15 drags, put down the cig) you will not go through nearly 30mL a month. If you are like me and your PV becomes permanently attached to your hand, you will easily go through 30mL in a month.

As far as carts go: I use only the premium carts with the "Easy flow" batteries, because they are current regulated, so they dont put a full 2A into the load right off the charger. I think this is how most cartos die, becuase an "almost dry" cart that tastes fine on a low battery will burn up within the first few drags at 2A.

Using the easy flow batteries, I wash the carts and scrub the insides with a dental "pipe cleaner" type thing every three or four fills. I have some cartos that I have refilled 20 times that still hit just fine, but I probably burned up and tore apart a dozen or so before I got the pattern down.

    Here's my questions......

*If I smoke 1 1/2 packs per day, for 1 week, how much would vaping cost me?

If you fill your own carts you are going to save yourself alot of money!

    I
m looking at the Vapor King (extra long, with long life battery)

*I want to fill my own cartridges....

In my opinion this is the best way to go.

*So....I would love to have some input on how much it would cost me versus an Analog cig.

It will cost more upfront to buy the ecig, +e-juice, but once you have that you will definately be saving money. How much money do you spend per week on analogs?

*How long would a 10 ml bottle last? Do I need to buy filled cartridges too--or blank ones and fill them?

How long a 10ml bottle lasts depends on how your 'smoking' habits change or don't change. When i tested my new 510 on my co-worker i set him aside an e-cig with a new, high nic cart on it and told him that whenever he felt like stepping out side for a cig just take a few puffs of the ecig. It was a very slow day and when i asked at the end of our shift, how many cigs he probably avoided smoking, he said 7-8. Not only did he spend less time 'smoking', he didn't have to go outside out of view of the customer and he didn't take as many puffs as he would have if had smoked a full cigarette. You find yourself 'smoking' less, more often. Like i said it just depends on how your 'smoking' habits change or don't change.
You can get blanks and refill them or if you buy a kit that comes with 'pre-loaded' carts you can refill them with whatever you like after you drain them. Some say that the pre-loaded carts are not refillable but i haven't noticed any difference between the pre-loaded carts and the 'refillable' ones.

Also...most of them come with 5 cartridges....how long would those even *last me? So many questions!!!

When i use my 510, i take a drag or two and then put it down for awhile so a cart would last me several days. Even if do this every half hour the cart will last me a day and then the cart can be refilled with a few drops of liquid. I was a regular smoker for several years but quit in 2001. I still enjoy the habit just not the side effects/smell of the analogs. Even if you go through two or three carts a day, a 30ml bottle will last quite awhile. I can't say for sure how long as i've only been using my 510 for about two weeks now and still nearly a full high cart left. If you modify your habit in a way similar to the way i use my 510 (i admit i have become quite a lightweight) then a 10ml bottle could last several weeks.

I appreciate any help I can get from you veterans out there! I am anxious to begin this....

    have a very blessed day!

Please note that comparing PV's to analogs is like comparing donkeys to oranges.

There will, most likely, be a savings, but nobody can say "I smoked X cigs of Y brand therefore vaping saves you Z". The PV side is just as personal as the analog side and the amount of variables are huge. (How much "linger" was there in each cig, what was the inhale amount, the hold in lungs time, factory tamp or tamp firmer, ashtray time etc. etc. etc. and that is just the analog side.)

noo did a great layout of what vaping saves noo. The only way to tell what it would save you is to start a spreadsheet now, start vaping, and update your data for the period you're interested in. Then you would have an accurate picture that will allow you to project your savings.

Me? I have spent more. I have purchased kits and juice and given them to others. I have given to a son, sister, cousins, friends, and even co-workers. Vaping is costing me money, but I am getting much larger returns in non-monetary ways. This is how I learned some interesting things....

My son smoked 3 times what I did, my sister about the same as me. He goes through juice at third of the rate as me and his is about a third of the nic level. My sister goes through juice at rate nearly equal to mine at 3/4 of the nic level. I cannot find a way to equate cigarettes smoked = juice used, even though we are all using the same brand and type of PV.

So, while you may get some good insights from replies, your mileage WILL vary.

Good luck and I really hope things go well for you.

so do you think it would take at least 30 ml's a month? thanks!

How much juice you go through is a highly individual thing. I haven't seen an foolproof way to correlate analogs smoked per day into juice vaped. They aren't the same, and while some people vape as much as they smoked, some do more, some do less. So that part depends on you.

I have the V4L VaporKing - cartos hold about 1ml of juice. If you vape one cart a day, that's 1 ml of juice per day. Two carts would be 2 ml per day. That's the part you just won't know until you try it and settle into your own rhythm.

Please remember at the beginning that you will likely spend a little more, trying a variety of juices until you find something that's "just right". But juice is probably the cheapest part of the equation, and it's fairly easy to find your faves and settle into a pattern.

We spent several hundred dollars the first month, but now we've settled into some regular flavors and don't spend much or often. I'd guess that between me and the guy, we use about 4-6 ml daily. Our current supply is at roughly 500 ml, from all our taste testing in the early weeks. Now we're only ordering 30-40 ml every other week or so to keep our go-to flavors stocked up, but we could easily get through a month-long dry spell with no problem.

Your question is a tough one with no clear-cut answer. And the first month will feel as though your spending like mad. But once you settle in with gear you like, price will go down dramatically.

Good choice on the VaporKing (assuming you mean the KR808 from V4L with cartomizers). Two months in and I've had no equipment failure yet, with the exception of some carts we killed at the beginning. That helps keep the cost down too.

Good luck with vaping - I hope it's a good experience for you!

    This made me laugh!

@OP: Pretty much everyone on here has their own habbits like their saying, some go thru 1-2ml a day, others 4-5ml. And I've seen quite a few people say that they went thru a TON more when they first started and were still trying to find flavors that agreed with them and their tastes. The amount of juice you go thru will also vary depending of the type of atty you have and the cart filler too, better cart filler will wick better and therefore go thru more juice. I also think I've read that HV and LR attys use more also (I don't know this though, I haven't made those ventures just yet myself.)

But when all is said and done even if you spend the same amount per month on vaping supplies as you did analogs you'll be better off for it the way I see it.

after initial start up cost.. that could be as low as 45$.. so if cigs cost you around 6$ a pack.. that is payed off in less than a week..

after that you are looking at spending around 15-30$ a month.. for cost of liquid and a atty..

if you learn to mix your own liquids it drops cost even more.. I am spending a bit over $3.00 a month for the last 2 months now..
