I have more than a few mods with lots of bells and whistles I never use. Why not just set the wattage to what you like best then set it and forget it?
What feels too advanced about it? The mod itself is much like others on the market, and other than being able to adjust the power, doesn't function all that differently than your ego aio. The mod is basically a big battery. You can mount almost any tank you like on top to vape with. The only issue you really have to worry about is assuring you have a tank and coil of a proper type to mount. Did you get a tank as well?
Other solutions that might work would be something like another AIO like the iJust, the new Smok Brit one, Kanger evod, or Innokin Endura. Thing is, they are all quite similar to the AIO, and don't leave you a lot of growth room. The mod you have can handle all sorts of tanks, giving you more options, but can also work fine if you only want one or two types of tanks and simply leave the power control alone once you found a setting you like.
Well the TCT tank as best I can tell only comes with a temp control Ni coil and is meant to be used only in temp control mode. If you use that coil in plain power/wattage mode, it's not a good thing to do. That may be why you're burning coils, as one of the things temp control is supposed to do is avoid that very thing.
Are you using it in temp control mode, or in power mode (watts displayed or temperature displayed on the mod's screen)?
You're not out of your league, but a little patience goes a long ways...I had adjusted the temp but when I push the fire button it displays watts. This is why I was thinking I am just not experienced enough for this device. I was so excited to get it as an early Christmas present. But I've been pretty disappointed with how it's working.
I know that there is a whole other world out there for vaping (beyond ego aio and pen style) and was just trying to get a taste of that world with this device, but have been disappointed and am just back to using the ego aio.
I also have a kayfun v5, but those coils keep breaking.
Do you think I'm out of my league?

You need to say more about how you were vaping before. The first thing you'd like to do is get it to do something close to what the previous device was giving you then see where to go from there.Currently using the ego aio. I just received the Smok M80 plus and I think it's too advanced for me. What's a good intermediate level device?

No, not out of your league, just perhaps with the wrong tank. Temp control is not difficult to set up, but does require reviewing the manual on how exactly to make it work on your particular mod, and assuring you pick the right type of coil/wire (temp control is typically done with 3 types Ni, which you have, Ti, and SS). Pick the wrong type of metal and the mod won't provide the right power for the coil/metal type.
I am not at all familiar with that tank, other than knowing that's the only kind of coil it takes. Most other tanks offer more choices of coils so you can get one to fit you best. The KF5 tank is a very good tank, liked by many here, but required you to build the coil, not some terribly difficult, but perhaps a bit more involved, especially in the beginning. I'm sure you can collect lots of ideas on tanks that would fit you better with a bit more info. Are you looking for a lower power, good flavor type of vape, or producing lots of clouds with a higher power setup? What types of vape juices do you like? Which AIO are you currently using, and what do you like and dislike about it? Stuff like that is helpful to know.

If the new device isn't doing what you want keep using the previous one until things get figured out. The atomizer needs to be the right one. The mod you have will power it correctly unless you need more than 80 watts and may be all you need is 8 watts.
I like the aio for how it gives you a hit right away, unlike the pen devices where u have to really suck hard to get a good hit. I like having a tank of liquid and not having to use those awful cartridges filled with cotton!
Ah, what cartridges filled with cotton? Because all tanks use some sort of coil that's wicked with cotton or maybe rayon if you're into building yourself. Or do you mean like those prefilled cartridges you'd suck on attached to a cigalike?
I know there's cotton in all of the tanks, [emoji4]I meant the ones u used to screw into a pen style device and saturated with juice

If I remember correctly the M80 only has pseudo-tc. It looks like and claims that it's doing tc but it's really not, at all. Also note that the XPRO M80 Plus was never very good at temp control...
