Please be sure to read the whole post. On top of the questions in the top half of the thread. I also frame a question about the purchase of my current mod at the bottom and possibly being ripped off along with what to look for as an upgrade from my current mod.

So two things. First, once you start getting up into the higher end mech mods... what are the things to look for that make one better than the other besides the looks?

The reason I ask is that I picked up a pretty .....in set up. And it's the only thing I use, so when I see these guys with 4, 8, 12 or more mods, it makes me wonder if it's just Impulse buying because it's the new cool thing, or just cus it looks cool to them. Or if really each one performs completely different and or one is totally "better" than the other. I am only referring to mod tubes.. not the rda or battery or anything like that... just talking about the battery tube.

What makes one "better" than the other? Assuming they are all "top of the line" mods.

And as a p.s. to what I wrote above. After doing doing a little reading today. I feel a bit ripped off by my local store.

I had almost died and lost my nice ecig in the process so for my birthday my mom (ninny is so sweet lol) she actually met up with me at my local store and Judy wanted to pick up some juice for herself and while we were there I was looking at buying a new mod. And my mom said happy birthday. I want to replace your last ecig with the best on you can get in here. Now wait one second. Before everyone chimes in and says what they would have got, don't bother. I already got my mod. And have loved it, and I didn't know much at the time about what to look for with the new style mods out. (I had an old school silver bullet with the old lr attys in it for years and never kept up with the new stuff coming out. So I was clueless. None the less, it was an amazing gesture by my mom and she wasn't going to let me walk out if there without getting one....So after talking to the guy he set me up with a patriot rda. And a turtleship v3 ss mod, Sony vtc5 batteries and charger and all that.

He went on saying that this mod was a top of the line mod and I would never need to get anything "better" outside of ascetics it personal preference in another mod... but it had all the copper contacts and yada yada..

So I paid 250.00 bux for the turtleship mod alone. And for the most part I am really happy with it... but come to find out I was looking online and I am finding them everywhere for 115 bux! I feel like I got to totally ripped off! So now that has me wondering just how good this mod is compared to the countless others they had in the store. (They are a pretty damn big store with 100's of different mods.)

So now I am interested in finding out that if I do decide to pick up another mod.... what is "better" than this one and why.... what do you look for In a top of the line mod that will chuck vapor with the best of them?

I would love to hear everyone's input.
Cheers!

Actually the reason I personally have many mods is both the enjoyment of trying various designs and convenience. I have Regulated variations as well as several types of Mechanical mods. Side Fire(high and low), Bottom and recessed.
At any given time I will have 10 or more mods topped with variations of atomizers and loaded with different flavored e-liquids.

Why stop swap toppers and adjust when I can simply sit one down and pick up another?

My at work gear is another whole story.:)

The beginning part you read and replied to directly relates to the bottom part of my post and the purchase of the mod that I currently own, and the difference between mine and getting something a little "better" and what differences between them makes it considered "better" that's the real question is guess..

Sorry for the long post. I wanted to add some context behind my thoughts of the purchase of my current mech mod.

Size, button, locking mechanism and a minimal amount of engravings, logos and serial numbers. Can't deny that looks play a part... Voltage drop... But I don't nitpick that part. To me, it's Either acceptable or bad. Won't buy any mod just because it has 0.01 less voltage drop than my current ones. Not that I've measured them anyway.

With more atties comes the need for more mods. With more mods comes the need for more atties. It's a vicious circle...

It is all personal. Basically it is a what do you want? You may be fine with a Original Turtle Mod another is with a clone. Me personally? I wouldn't spend 250 bucks on a device. I am fine with a 20 dollar clone and a kick. I can take the kick out and go unregulated if I want without having to buy another device.

Is one better than the other? Depends on the person vaping it and what they want.

It does suck you spent $250 on your mod but if you're satisfied with it, that's all that matters. In my opinion, the difference in performance between a couple of quality mods is trivial. A mechanical mod is just a metal tube with a couple contacts. Floating 510 pins are great, telescoping mods are awesome, and a quality switch is pretty much the biggest factor.

I currently own 2 mechanicals and hope that I can stop buying them. I have a few drippers because I like having a variety of builds for a variety of needs. I buy all clones because they've all functioned perfectly and cannot imagine paying 5-10x as much for the same product.
