What's going on with my ProTank Mini?

I am talking about the original ProTank mini---not the mini 2.

I bought it back at the end of August. Although this tank seems to be more finicky than the full size ProTank, it was always reliable and I am always vaping on it..until now.

Now, my mini ProTank seems to be leaking. But I can't tell where it is leaking from, exactly. There is just liquid that appears on the outside of the tank. At first I thought it was condensation because the weather has changed but the liquid on the tank is in fact e-juice, not just water from condensation. If I had to guess it might be coming from the seam where the glass meets the metal near the base. But I just can't tell.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a common problem with this specific tank? I'm kind of sad because I love this tank. The original mini's are getting hard to find and I hate to drop another $15 on one if this is what happens to them.

I do have a ProTank Mini 2 and I like it ok, but I like the original ProTank Mini better.
:(

That is exactly what happens to PT v1 full size and minis. The glue breaks down and that is why Kanger came out with v1.5 and then v2. Both 1.5 and v2 are glue free.

Hey there, SAG...does the v1.5 come completely apart? That's what I don't like about v2. If the 1.5 doesn't have this problem, I wouldn't mind buying one. Know where I can find one?

you don't HAVE to take it apart

just unscrew the base-rinse-replace coil, etc. , just like V1... :)

OK, gotcha

but my experience with mini protank II is marvelous and maybe you can work at making
yours work better...

-block an air passage hole, or enlarge one
-go through a series of coils

mine just works so good, and on all I put it on...
the added benefit of being able to disassemble it if only to dry it out
is just too cool...

then I like to re-juice a lot so the smaller capacity is ideal... !

good luck :)

I'm sure you are right and once I fiddle with it I will find my sweet spot. I just hate change, lol.

Kind of mad, though. Thought I would get more than 1 month and a half outta this thing.

yeah, but guess kanger did what was best (losing the glue)
new one should last now and no one will move your cheese ;)

I'm torn between the -mini's-

the mini T3S
and mini protank

big protank is great too, just too bulky & capacity more than I like...

Vape≈Healthy :2cool:

I haven't tried the TS3...mainly because most of my liquids are considered tank crackers.

At first I was not a fan of the full size protank..mainly because I was like you and switched flavors a lot. Now that I have finally established my fave flaves...I don't mind the commitment of filling a whole protank.

Hi SchmidtyKy! On version 1.5 the drip tip does not come off (it's not interchangeable). So there are basically 5 pieces - base (that you screw your coil into), coil, glass, top piece which includes DT, threaded base(that you screw onto your battery). Version 2 has another piece because the DT is removable or you can use a different one. So you have 6 pieces. Personally, I like that it's glue free because if it is breaking down, I'm don't want that in my juice! I also like to be able to take apart to clean.

At first, I have to admit, I was a little ticked off that I spent $$$ on a couple of the v1's (minis too). When v1.5s came out I bought a couple even though I was plugging along with v1. Well, then they started failing and I was glad I had the others. While I still have 2 of my original v1s, I recently stopped using them anymore because I don't want a glue added to my juice. So bottom line, I'm grateful that they made this needed improvement!

Oh, and I saved the bases because if I ever get a funky one, I won't have to buy it. You never know, QC is not so good over "there"!

Yeah...I'm wondering though...I just cleaned all my tanks and I'm wondering if it's user error. On the v1, is there supposed to be a little rubber ring where the base twists onto the tank itself? If so...I do not have one. Would this cause the leaking? I'm not sure where the leak was coming from, so I can't really tell for sure if that would be the problem.

Are you talking about the o-ring just above the knurled part on the base? Maybe this image will help you see what's supposed to be there? My o-ring is on there really tight, meaning it would not slip off easily. If yours is missing, then yes that would cause leaking. If you're not sure if it's leaking where the glass meets the metal, maybe you could tape a paper towel around the tank, lay it on it's side for a bit and then check to see if you can find the leak. Or fill the tank with water, and stand it up the drip tip end (no need to attach the base to the tank for this "test") and see if anything leaks out.

OK...So I tried to attach a picture. I drew an arrow to the "missing" rubber ring thingy. Is that what you are calling an "O-Ring"? If so...I prob just need to replace it. Where do I get them? Seems like an obscure thing to buy.
