They should last for many years. But what is more likely to wear out first?

1. The threads on the 510 connection?
2. The springs (i.e. for the button), hence the magnet upgrade?
3. The threading on the tubes themselves?
4. The switch/button mechanism itself and/or locking ring?

Stainless steel is supposed to be harder/stronger/more durable than both brass and aluminum, but even it will strip eventually, I think. Perhaps titanium would last longer.

Likely the 510 before anything else. Simple solution is pay close attention and don't over tighten.
If/when they start to go - STOP, install an Air flow Regulator and LEAVE it in place.

For the price I have paid - anything over 6 months is a bonus. Over a year and I'll be overjoyed.

Even my lowly eVics will be one year old Saturday. :D

It depends on what you buy. Masproduced clones and counterfeits are more likely to have issues with threading and such. I dont think a well made mod would have thread issues it would take many many years to where down the metal in the manner we use it. I would say springs would be the weakest chain in the link. Also the easiest to replace. Ive replaced most of my springs with magnets. I suppose they might get weaker over time also.

Have you ever heard of anyone replacing K100 springs with magnets? I am asking because I have one and the pressure it takes to push the button on it is too much for my arthritis. I love the mech but I badly need to find a way to lighten the button press pressure.

Magnets usually make it stiffer that's why I like them I don't have to lock the safety and it takes away the wobble in the bottom button mods.
You can try removing a coil or two from your spring to make it weaker. Or go to the hardware store and try some different springs you should be able to find one a little less springy that will work for you.

Ty much to ask the dumb question though. Where in the hardware store do I find springs? Like which department? I am clueless the employees in our local hardware store here are deliberately obtuse. As in didn't know what I was asking for when I asked where to find a 1/16th drill bit obtuse. :p

EDIT: And if I have one more Good Ol' Boy hardware store employee say to me " Now little lady why do you want to worry your pretty head with man stuff" I am going to say some less than ladylike things.

I like ACE if you walk around looking dumb for more than a minute someone will ask if you need help. Id take the mod in and show them what you want. I do stuff like that all of the time. Most times they are glad to help you get what you need.

Ive seen you get riled I would not purposely get on your bad side;-) I pity the poor clerk who belittles you!

Myrany, you probably already do this too, but just in case, I fire my K100 like this:

The bigger fingers are much stronger than the pinky. OTOH, that spring is so strong it may well still be too much if your arthritis is bad.

My hand is so small I can't hold it stably like that unfortunately. It takes all 4 other fingers to get enough stability to push the button at all. heheheheheh I have small paws. In fact I can only use it in 18350 mode.

Do to accident as a youngun I broke all the fingers on one hand and half on the other. I have good days and bad. Unfortunately as you say the pinkys start out the weakest. Add in the arthritis and you get ouchie :)

I also think the 510 threads are the weakest link. For the rest of the threads, I think it depends on how careful you are with starting them and not over-tightening.

I've had a K100 since March 2013 that's seen a lot of use and nothing has noticeably worn yet except the finish in a couple of places. I think I could use that thing as a hammer and it wouldn't even wince. The Nemesis clone has fine threads so I'm careful with them. I also doubt the switch on that is as tough as in the K100.

I hear ya Myrany. Hope you can find a weaker spring and that works out for you!

I think they are really that obtuse. Around here, they show you don't know what you are asking by repeating what you said v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y. This is why I head to Amazon more and more when I'm looking for anything less common than a claw hammer.
