I've rinsed mine with PGA too (Use Everclear purchased from the grocery store liquor section). It's fast and evaporates dry quickly (no water rinse necessary). I just reprime really well, let the atty sit for 5 minutes to soak in and vape away. Wish I had known about PGA with that pineapple tasting bunch, GAH! Haven't had a bad primer taste in a new atty in ages though so never bother with it anymore.
Cassavetes - I think too many noobs try the dry burn with no clue what they're doing, and burn the string wicking in their attys (they have no idea how atomizers are constructed, or that the wicking is even in there under the bridge in a 510) which is why we hear them crying about burned taste in their attys.
I never recommend that anyone do dry burns for any reason. If it was a good idea, I'd think the manufacturers would be telling us to do it. They do recommend alcohol to clean attys.
