What's my next step up with equipment???

I'm new to the forum, been vaping for a good little while now... Right now I'm running a Vision Spinner II with a Aspire Nautilus tank which a guy at my local B&M said is a pretty good setup. I'm very pleased with my equipment but wanna take it to the next level.

A buddy told me to get into drippers, but I'm clueless about all the equipment and setups. I want something that's going to give me a big clouds, good battery life, not sure i wanna have to toy with building my own coils just yet though. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Yep, dripping and building coils go hand in hand. They're not entirely too difficult once you've made a few dozen or so and eventually it becomes quite fun. I rebuild my coils about once every 3-4 days, sometimes as long as a week. I rewick probably every 3 days or once my cotton gets burned or gunky.

I look at it as a fun little hobby and enjoy learning new coil styles, wicking methods and trying them out to see how they produce!

One step up from where you are would be to get a better battery like an MVP. You could go a couple of steps up with an even better mod, but the difference from the MVP might not be all that obvious.

Tank-wise, the Nautilus seems to be the best you can get without rebuilding your own coils at the moment. There is the subtank, for which you can get subohm coils (0.8ohms I believe) and can also build your own coils. Could be a great way to ease into rebuilding and still get more vapor meanwhile, but I have no experience with that tank.

I noticed Aspire has a sub-ohm battery that they bundle with the new Atlantis tank. Would the Sigelei 100 watt still be a better bet?

Sub-ohm coils are completely unnecessary now that we have high wattage mods. When people had only 3.7v mechs, they needed to build sub-ohm coils to increase wattage, but now? What's the point?

It's all about wattage--always has been. Not about sub-ohm coils. :D

My recommendation would be to wait for the MVP 20--it should be in stores in early January. It has more power than the MVP2, comes with a spring-loaded 510 connection, accurate voltage and wattage output, and a DNA 20 chipset. Put a Kanger Aerotank or an Emow Mega with dual coils and airflow control and you'll be a happy vaper for a while.

Good luck!

I would suggest getting a decent mod that will last as a priority. Whatever you end up vaping on will need a platform to screw on to.
While the MVP 2 is great little device, it only fires up to 11W which will quickly become limiting.
At the same time i would advise against the Sigelei 100W. For one, there has been issues with the firing button getting stuck, which can be a dangerous hazard, and second, i don't believe that recommending a 100W device with stacked batteries to someone that has never done a single build is a good idea. If buying a high powered device, you should know exactly why you want it, and not because the person next to you said 100W is better, or a cooler number than 30 or 40 ;-)

My personal recommendation would be vaporshark rDNA 40. They are not cheap, but great quality devices. 40Watts is enough to blow some decent clouds for most people.

The Aspire Atlantis is certainly capable of blowing some clouds. If you don't mind buying coils constantly for your hard earned money, then go with that.

If you want to get into rebuilding, read on :)

- Pick up a simple 3-post design dripper that has free standing posts. Bonus points if it has some sort of airflow control. There are tons of choices here, and probably as many opinions on which to get. I'd say something like a Zenith is easy to build and experiment on and can provide plenty of airflow should you need it later on. Clones can be gotten as for as little as 8$ from FT. Their shipping is quite slow however, there might be other options available to you locally. If do you buy a clone, wash it thoroughly.

- Grab some 28, 27, 26 gauge Kanthal wires.
- Get an Ohm-meter! If you bought the vaporshark, there is technically no need for one, but they are cheap and double up as a stand while you work on your builds.
- A bag of organic cotton, or, if you can get them at a reasonable price, Japanese cotton pads. The japanese cotton is slightly better and easier to work with, but regular cotton is certainly fine.
- A set of micro screwdrivers or drillbits 2, 2.5, 3mm or US size equivalents
- A small windlight or chef torch

Start with a simple 28 gauge single coil build and don't be shy to experiment! There are tons of tutorials out there with different builds you can do.
Assuming that you enjoyed building, you will most likely want a rebuildable tank next, but that would be too much to cover in a single post.

If you master all the gear above and ever hit a point where you believe that 40W and 26 gauge just isn't enough, you will have better knowledge and most likely be able to decide for yourself if you want to use a mechmod or some 260gigawatt box.
